MIAMI—Talent Testing Service (TTS) has released its newest update featuring the latest positivity rates of Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs) where three of the five testing indexes showed slight overall declines in positive tests in September.
In the Chlamydia Urine - Positivity Index, the overall rates during September show a steady downward trend from the November 2022 peak. In September 2024 the Total rate edged down to 0.9% from 1.0 percent, the Female rate also decreased to 1.0% from 1.4%, while the male rate ticked upward to 0.8% from 0.7%. Seeing that historic levels have been around 2.0%, the report said the current rates can be considered to be within expectations.
In the GC (Gonorrhea) Urine - Positivity Index, the three gonorrhea urine rates turned upward during the month with the female rate increasing to 0.5% from 0.3%, with the Total rate at 0.3% from 0.2%, and the Male rate at 0.2% from 0.1%. Altogether, the three rates remain within the trend.
The Chlamydia & GC (Gonorrhea) Throat and Rectal Swabs – Positivity Index showed that the positivity rates for the four tests have December 2022 as a relevant, starting point where all levels display their peak and then start overall downward trends. In September 2024, the Chlamydia Rectal rates show the Total rate lower at 1.3% from 1.6%, the Male rate also down to 0.8% from 1.4%, and the Female rate unchanged at 1.7%. The Chlamydia Throat rates continue to be aligned to their general trend with levels at or below 1% with the Male rate at 0.3% from 0.1%, the Total rate at 0.2% from 0.3%, and the Female rate down at 0.1% from 0.4%. Although within an overall smaller range of 0.0 to 3.5% when compared to the other swab rates, the Gonorrhea Rectal lines volatility, visible since April 2023, shows the Female rate dropping to 0.6% from 0.9%, the Male rate turning up to 1.4% from 0.8 percent, and the Total rate ticking up to 1.0% from 0.9%.
Altogether, the three gonorrhea throat rates were almost all flat, with the Male rate unchanged at 1.8%, the Female rate rising to 1% from 0.9%, and the Total rate rising to 1.4% from 1.3%. In conclusion, the rate levels displayed in the Gonorrhea Rectal swabs continue to show a more volatile behavior than the other three swab tests.
Other rates are:
• Trichomonas Vaginalis Urine- Positivity Index: The three rates meet at 0.5%, with the Female rate dropping from 0.6%, the Total rate increasing from 0.4%, and the Male rate also going up from 0.2%. The rate levels are still within the general range of 0.0 to 1.5%.
• Mycoplasma Genitalium Urine – Positivity Index: In September 2024 the three Mycoplasma G. Urine rates dropped; the Female rate to 3.8% from 5.1% with the total rate to 2.8% from 4.3%, and the Male rate to 1.9% from 3.6%.
