MIAMI—Talent Testing Service (TTS) is reporting an increase in chlamydia positivity rates during April over the previous month as part of its monthly report on Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs).
Overall, the three Chlamydia Urine rates had previously shown a steady downward trend from the November 2022 peak. In April 2024, the total reached a 1.0 percent rate from 0.5 percent previously with males at 0.9 percent from 0.7 percent, and females at 1.2 percent from 0.2 percent. With historic levels around 2.0 percent, the current rates below 2.0 percent can be considered to be within expectations.
GC (Gonorrhea) Urine - Positivity Index continued its downward trend for the third month in a row as the rates in April 2024 continued to drop with the female rate at 0.2 percent from 0.7 percent, the Male at 0.2 percent from 0.4 percent and the total rate at 0.2 percent from 0.5 percent. The figures can considered to be within regular levels.
Other highlights included:
• Trichomonas Vaginalis Urine- Positivity Index showed the April 2024 female rate went up to 0.8 percent from 0.5 percent, while the total rate remained unchanged at 0.4 percent. At the same time, the male rate dropped to 0.1 percent from 0.3 percent. The current rate levels are within the general range of 0.0 percent to 1.5 percent.
• Mycoplasma Genitalium Urine – Positivity Index As in the prior month, the April 2024 rates show three different directions, the Total rate is still unchanged at 4.7%, and the Female rate went down to 4.6 percent from 5.6 percent. The Male rate is up to 4.9% from 3.7 percent. Based on market activity the positivity rates for the four tests below have December 2022 as a relevant, starting point where all levels display their peak and then overall downward trends. In April 2024, the Chlamydia Rectal rates show the total rate climbing to 1.8 percent from 1.5 percent, with the Female rate also up to 2.4 percent from 1.4 percent and the male rate decreasing to 1.2 percent from 1.7 percent.
• The Chlamydia Throat rates continue to be aligned with their general trend with levels at or below 1.0 percent, with the Male rate at 0.1 percent from 0.0 percent. Although within an overall smaller range of 0.0% to 3.5 percent when compared to the other swab rates.
• The Gonorrhea Rectal lines volatility, visible since April 2023, seems to have lessened, with the total rate unchanged at 0.7 percent while the female rate decreased to 0.4 percent from 0.7 percent, while the male rate grew to 1.0 percent from 0.6 percent.
• The Three Gonorrhea Throat Rates remained within the range of the prior six months the Female figures are down to 1.2 percent from 1.6 percent, the Male up to 1.3 percent from 0.7 percent, and the total rate unchanged at 1.2 percent. Overall, the rate levels displayed in the Gonorrhea Rectal swab tests show a more volatile behavior than the other three swab tests.
