There's no question that the rapid spread of the coronavirus around the world has seriously impacted life as we know it, restricting movement and seeing many people self-isolating inside for the foreseeable future. These drastic changes are leading to a significant rise in anxiety, depression, fear and suicidal tendencies. Recognizing that the need for therapeutic intervention has never been more in demand, renowned clinical psychologist and sex therapist Dr. Christopher Ryan Jones, Psy.D., has begun to offer his therapeutic services through a HIPPA-approved web platform.
This new online service allows those struggling with their mental health during this unprecedented situation, no matter where they might be based in the world, the opportunity to seek professional help from the comfort of their own home. Although he primarily works with clientele from the music and entertainment industry, during this difficult period, Dr. Jones is opening up his services to anyone in need.
Utilizing a secure and safe connection, each therapy session will be held in complete privacy through special video conferencing technology. Further information on the services provided can be found here.
Speaking about the motivation for offering the new services, Dr. Christopher Ryan Jones noted, “There is no doubt that the increase in anxiety and fear we are seeing is triggered by the uncertainty that we are facing due to the coronavirus outbreak. On top of that, the new social isolation measures are really impacting people’s mental well-being, and being in isolation with a partner during this high stress time leads to higher probability of relationship difficulties.
"This means that there has never been a bigger need for mental health services; yet many people feel that help is out of their reach due to them having to quarantine. I wanted to make my services available during this difficult time and let people know that there is help available and accessible from their homes. Hope is still alive, and we can get through this together.”
Dr. Jones is a member of both the American Psychological Association and the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counsellors, and Therapists. As an expert in human sexuality, he conducted a pioneering study on the relationship between gender identity, sexuality, and religion, which has been peer-reviewed and published. He is often featured in diverse media outlets such as the Huffington Post, Cosmopolitan, GQ, and the Oprah magazine. Dr. Jones is the host of the "Confessions Of A Sex Therapist" podcast which has a large world-wide audience.
