PATTAYA, Thailand–Jamey Bell of PASS is this week’s guest on "Adult Site Broker Talk."
Bell is a board-certified nurse practitioner and the medical director of the sexual health program at the Los Angeles LGBT Center, the largest facility in the world providing health and social services to the LGBTQ+ community. Bell also serves as medical director of PASS, the non-profit organization dedicated to the health and safety of adult industry workers.
In 2021, Bell joined the PASS board of directors and was appointed medical director in September 2023. Bell is a strong supporter of the rights of sex workers and the provision of safe and convenient healthcare for those involved in the adult industry.
With an emphasis on social justice in healthcare for vulnerable people, Bell has over 20 years of experience in the field. He blends professional expertise with compassion and care for his patients and the community.
Bell graduated with top honors from Ball State University in Indiana and holds master's degrees in community health and nursing. The American Academy of Nurse Practitioners has awarded him a board certification.
The Free Speech Coalition established PASS in April 2011 as an extension of a prior initiative to support industry standards and oversight of adult industry testing. PASS partners with organizations that test for STIs and/or other infectious diseases in the U.S. and Canada to provide work clearance data back to its database. PASS started functioning as a separate entity in May of 2021.
No individual test results are posted to PASS; instead, the database simply contains binary yes/no information related to "work clearance." Based on the testing panel's results, clinical staff at the testing partner with the necessary licenses determines a patient's eligibility for work clearance. The testing protocol requires nine distinct tests for seven STIs. Clearance is given for 14 days from the date of the first sample collection.
