SAN FRANCISCO - Raging Stallion Studios received 51 nominations from the 2009 GAYVN Awards, more than any other gay adult studio. The nominations encompassed 14 movies, including 17 for To the Last Man, the studio's controversial 2008 blockbuster.
Directed by Chris Ward, Ben Leon and Tony DiMarco, To the Last Man is a big-budget film shot on location in the mountains of northern Arizona. The movie generated controversy by mixing hardcore sex and violence. All but one of the major characters is killed during the film's six-hour run. The studio's use of the controversy to promote the film gained the flick a Best Marketing nod.
Ricky Sinz and Scott Tanner share the lead in To The Last Man, and both received awards nods: Sinz for Best Actor and Tanner for Best Supporting Actor. Logan McCree also received a Best Actor nomination for his role in The Drifter. Both McCree and Sinz also were nominated for Performer of the Year, as was RSS exclusive Steve Cruz. Vinnie D'Angelo received a Best Supporting Actor nod for The Drifter.
Jake Deckard received a Best Director nomination for his Jock Itch series. Steve Hunt was nominated for Best Foreign actor for his role in RSS subsidiary High Octane's Masters and Servants, which is up for Best Foreign Release. Exclusives RJ Danvers and Damien Rios were each nominated for Best Newcomer.
Leon's The 4th Floor was nominated for Best All Sex film, and Gavin Lowe's Testosterone was nominated for Best Latin film. Big, Bigger, Biggest was nominated for Best Leather film, and the studio earned two nominations in the Best Fetish Category. JD Slater's Centurion Muscle 5: Maximus was nominated in the Best Bear category.
"I am very grateful to the GAYVN judges for these nominations," said RSS president Ward. "We have had a great year, and to be able to follow last year's Grunts with another blockbuster hit that has received so much positive commentary is very exciting for all of us here at Raging Stallion."
Ward also noted that Raging Stallion received multiple nominations in several categories.
"I hope we don't split our vote," he said. "Having so many nominations duplicated in many categories really shows that our quality is very thick. Almost every movie we made this year got nominated."
