Village Lighthouse Subsidiaries Win Calendar Awards

LOS ANGELES - For the fifth consecutive year, wall calendars produced by Village Lighthouse subsidiaries 10% and Provocateur were honored with national and international Calendar Awards presented by the Calendar Marketing Association.

"Boyfriend of the Month," a 10% calendar featuring photography by Ohm Phanphiroj, won the gold award for Best Glamour Photography in the national competition. "Magnifique," a 10% calendar featuring photography by Fred Goudon, won the silver award for Best Glamour Photography in the world category. "Women," a Provocateur calendar by Renée Jacobs, won the gold award for Best Black & White Photography in the world competition.

A best-selling 10% title for several years, "Boyfriend of the Month" features a selection of Phanphiroj's photography that highlights the sweet, sexy and sultry models he has discovered around the world. This year, 10% plans to publish a 2010 "Boyfriend of the Month" calendar featuring photography by Patrick Mark.

"Magnifique" is one of two 2009 wall calendars featuring the work of Goudon, an internationally acclaimed photographer. "Bedtime Stories," published by Provocateur, is the other. Both have proved so popular that Provocateur plans to publish a 2010 calendar featuring Goudon's work. Called "Masculinity," the new calendar will comprise a collection of images presenting nude men from around the globe, including selected images from Goudon's new art book, Virility.

"Women" is the first calendar produced from Jacobs' work. Jacobs is an award-winning fine-art lesbian photographer whose work has been featured worldwide in newspapers like The New York Times and magazines like Maxim Romania and Esquire Turkey. Her work also hangs in permanent collections including the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library in Boston, Mass. The 2010 edition of "Women" also will feature Jacobs' work, this time in color and black and white.

The Calendar Awards, instituted in 1989, annually recognize the highest-quality calendar design and production. The competition is open to all those involved in the production, distribution and marketing of calendars: advertising agencies, artists, designers, photographers, printers, publishers, etc. A panel of judges examined all entries in the competition and rated the entries on criteria including quality of artwork/photography/graphics, readability and information quality of the calendar grid, originality of the calendar, complete execution of the calendar subject/theme and fulfillment of the category entered.
