PZP Puts Production on Hiatus

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. - "Twink boutique" studio PZP Productions has called a halt to production, owner Peter Z. Pan said Monday. The company will remain on hiatus pending an upswing in the global economic situation, he said.

"All the other small studios are doing it, but it's all hush-hush; no one's supposed to know about it," Pan said. "Well, there is no shame in it. The economy stinks, and it's killing many of us in the industry - not just the little guy. Who knows what's going to happen and how many of us will still be around this time next year? Unfortunately the only sensible thing to do right now is to cut back on production and hope this recession passes quickly."

PZP plans to release only two new titles in 2009: Twinks Finally 18 #1 (released Jan. 20) and an expanded version of the studio's 2007 comedic Dickens homage, Oliver Twink. Oliver Twink Special Edition Director's Cut, which will incorporate extended footage and new outtakes - and possibly an interview with stars Dillon Samuels and Kyros Christian - is expected to bow in November through Marina Pacific Distributors.

PZP's The Twink Whisperer was nominated for six 2009 GAYVN Awards, and Sebastian Young Reduxxx received one nomination for Best Special Edition. In addition, PZP performers received nods in the categories of Best Actor, Best Supporting Actor and Best Oral Scene.

The studio's flagship website, BoysOnTheWeb.com, received a GAYVN nomination for Best Twink Site.

"The sad irony is that we can't even attend the awards show due to the economy," Pan said. "Oy vey."
