Michael Lucas Receives Accolades in Print

NEW YORK—Gay porn entrepreneur Michael Lucas continues to bewitch the mainstream press as evidence by recent recognition in two nationally distributed magazines. The Advocate called Lucas “a reason to be gay in 2010,” and Paper Magazine named him “a character to follow on Twitter.”

The Advocate included Lucas in its “150 Reasons To Be Gay in 2010” list, published in the June issue. In the feature, the gay lifestyle magazine noted Lucas “has used the stardom porn gave him as a platform to speak out against drugs, unsafe sex, child exploitation, anti-Semitism, religious oppression of gays and a host of other social problems.” Also on the list are U.S. President Barak Obama, Stephen Sondheim, Lady Gaga and Rachel Maddow.

Paper Magazine, a New York City-based publication focused on fashion, pop-culture, nightlife, music, art and film, listed Lucas as one of “140 Characters to Follow on Twitter.” Other Twitter favorites include Elizabeth Taylor, Neil Patrick Harris, Stephen Colbert and Roger Ebert.

“I have always been someone with strong convictions, and it’s an honor to be recognized by The Advocate for my opinions and activism,” said Lucas, president and chief executive officer of gay adult studio Lucas Entertainment. “And with social networks always changing face, Twitter has been a fun way to say what I want, when I want to. Thanks for following along.”
