LOS ANGELES—Here Media Inc. has promoted two longtime employees to vice president positions in the company’s advertising sales department. Joe Valentino became departmental vice president, and David Posegay took the newly created vice president for sales development position.
Valentino previously served as associate publisher of the Here Media print properties The Advocate and Out and as publisher of HIV Plus. Posegay previously held the position of advertising director.
“Joe is a remarkable salesperson and leader,” said Here Media Senior Vice President and Group Publisher Joe Landry. “He continually generates new revenue, year over year. Joe has been promoted to vice president as a testament to his salesmanship, leadership and additional responsibilities.
“David is a strategic thinker who excels at focusing on our clients’ objectives and is the obvious choice for this newly created position,” Landry added.
In his new role, Valentino continues managing the pharmaceutical and automotive account categories for The Advocate, Out and HIV Plus print publications. Simultaneously, he will supervise sales of the telecommunications, pharmaceutical and liquor categories across the company’s digital properties. Valentino also will oversee the health and wellness content areas to be packaged into multiplatform sales and marketing initiatives.
PlanetOut Inc. employed Valentino from 1999 until Here Media acquired the company in 2009. He continued with Here after the acquisition.
As vice president for sales development, Posegay now supervises new business development and the sale of integrated corporate media partnerships for Here Media’s client base. He will collaborate with the company’s integrated marketing department as well as the advertising sales department in order to generate new and creative multiplatform marketing programs utilizing the company’s brands.
Posegay began his media career at Chicago-based Starcom MediaVest Group working on both the strategy and investment teams for clients including Diageo and Miller Brewing. Posegay later became the marketing manager at Chicago magazine and Chicago Home+Garden, a division of The Tribune Company, and eventually transitioned into the sales department for those properties. In 2007, he joined Planet Out Inc. as advertising director. Like Valentino, he remained with the company after its acquisition by Here Media.
