David Forest Begins Weekly Column

VAN NUYS, Calif. Retired adult talent manager David Forest has begun penning a weekly column about his views on the current state of the industry. "Sunday Serenade" will appear at Forest's website.

"I couldn't sit back any longer," he said, adding that simply running his "private meetings" business doesn't provide him with enough to do.

Forest said "Sunday Serenade" will allow him to endorse the stars, clubs, studios and other people and events in which he believes.

"I'll draw on my 40-plus years of relationships and experience in both mainstream and adult entertainment show business to offer up a fun, critical, sometimes cynical, weekly column," he said. "[I'm] determined to help get the adult stars back in control of the gay adult film and live [performance] worlds."

Forest said he doesn't care for the way the adult entertainment industry has reacted to the worldwide economic recession.

"We need to stop bellyaching and get back to the good old days, when this [business] was fun," he said.

In the first "Sunday Serenade," which debuted April 12, Forest comments on the re-opening of Micky's Bar in West Hollywood, Calif.; The Advocate's "Porn Panic" article; recently paroled performer Mark Dalton; the 2009 GAYVN and Escort Awards; ForestMeetings clients Tony Capucci, Zeb Atlas, Jason Pitt, Beau Marcus and Dempsey Stearns; the death of gay porn legend Jack Wrangler; the new talent-management firm DV8Casting; and the gay nightclub world.

"Each week I'll write about someone that I think is special," Forest said. "For this first week I've written about my dear friend, Jack Ryan."
