Bruno Gmuender to Publish 3 New Books in March

BERLIN - German publisher Bruno Gmeunder has three new books slated for March release in Europe. Players, Champions and Spartacus International Gay Guide 2009 will be released in the U.S. in May.

Players is the first photo book from Southerner-turned-New Yorker Rick Day. Superficially the work is all about sports, but sly Day is as big as player as his models: He plays with viewers' expectations. Far from being simple celebrations of masculine sex appeal, Day's full-color photographs invite viewers to question who is observing whom as they confront the models' straightforward gazes and unabashed exhibitionism.

By day, Day is a self-taught fashion photographer with credits including Elle, Details, GQ, Genre, Gap, Ritaini and Rufskin. Players, at 144 pages, bears a cover price of 49.95 euros, or $89.99 U.S.

Champions is the fourth in a series of photo books featuring the men of Falcon Studios. Seven Falcon exclusives and a passel of new talent show off on 96 full-color pages. Among the models: Tyler Saint, Jason Adonis, Zeb Atlas, Matthew Rush, and Aden and Jordan Jaric. The settings are luxurious and attest to Falcon's formula for success over the past 30 years.

The book will carry a cover price of 24.95 euros, or $44.99 U.S.

The 38th edition of Spartacus International Gay Guide is filled with information pointing gay men toward vacation destinations. More than 1,200 pages provide detailed information about lodgings from five-star hotels to private rooms, restaurants, hidden beaches, clubs and meetings places in 127 countries. Also offered - in five languages - are advice and the location of information and cultural centers to help gay travelers abroad.

"The gay globetrotter can count on this reliable guide," said Gmuender spokesman Helmuth Täuber. "It is the worldwide travel bible for gay men."

The book will retail for 25.95 euros, or $32.99 U.S.
