LOS ANGELES, Calif. - The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection will be in San Francisco March 27-28 in order to accept an award from the city and debut a new public-service announcement starring gay adult icon Chi Chi LaRue.
The PSA promotes ASCAP's Restricted to Adults website label. In the video, LaRue encourages parents to employ filtering software in order to prevent children from accessing age-inappropriate websites. ASACP plans to screen the PSA during the GAYVN Awards ceremony.
In addition, the organization will receive from the City of San Francisco a certificate of recognition honoring ASACP's efforts to protect children online.
GAYVN Hall of Fame director LaRue said she felt honored to appear in the PSA. She has worked in the adult entertainment industry for 20 years and produced more than 300 films for the gay, straight and bisexual areas of the market. She is an outspoken advocate not only for safer sex, but also for the notion that the industry can protect itself if it protects the unwilling and underage from viewing its content.
"I know we're all in the porn business, and while many say our industry is taboo, I feel that we have a responsibility to our consumers," she said. "By making sure that we label our sites properly, we are one step closer to keeping this content restricted to its target audience, and keeping those who oppose us out of our wigs. Well, I'm the only one with a wig, but you know what I mean."
The new PSA is the fifth in an ongoing series. Previous RTA PSAs featured Stormy Daniels, Sunny Leone, Catalina Cruz, Tera Patrick and Evan Seinfeld.
RTA is the adult entertainment industry's initiative to protect children from viewing content that is age-inappropriate. The program was developed by ASACP out of a need for an easy-to-use and internationally recognized label that designates content for adults only. The RTA label comprises a unique string of meta data that can be inserted into the HTML code of any Web page. Parental filtering software recognizes the tag and prevents children from viewing adult content.
The RTA label is free and universally available.
