Wicked's 'Horizon' Screening Draws Mainstream Celebs

LOS ANGELES—The entertainment communities from both sides of the Hollywood Hills converged last Wednesday night when Wicked Pictures hosted a theatrical screening of Horizon, director Sam Hain’s big-budget science-fiction epic, at the Landmark Theater in West Los Angeles.

From mainstream celebrities such as Anthony Fitzgerald (Scrubs, ChromeSkull: Laid To Rest 2) to iconic comic legend Tommy Chong (who happily granted interviews to the adult press with Horizon co-star Misty Stone on his arm), the posh affair was attended by nearly all of the film’s primary cast and crew, including Wicked Pictures owner and president Steve Orenstein, director Hain, producer Lee Roy Myers, and stars Jessica Drake, Kaylani Lei, Alektra Blue, Kimberly Kane, Rocco Reed and Bill Bailey.

The evening began with a cocktail reception during which the cast mingled with such adult industry talent as Chanel Preston, Isis Taylor, Tommy Gunn, Katie Kinns, Brad Armstrong, Marcus London, Lucy Vonne, Craig Melone, Girls & Corpses magazine founder Robert Rhine, Burning Angel Entertainment’s Brian Street Team and many more. After the reception, guests were invited into one of the Landmark’s largest screening rooms to enjoy the first public screening of Horizon.

Coming hot on the heels of Steven Soderbergh’s Contagion, Hain’s special-effects-laden space adventure is the first adult film to be shot with the Red Epic camera system, the same revolutionary technology first used to create Soderbergh’s mainstream film. And thanks in part to the Landmark’s state-of-the-art projection system, history was made as Horizon became the first adult film to be screened theatrically in 2K.

After the screening, Hain and his cast gathered before the throng of mainstream and adult press in attendance for a Q&A session and more group photos.

The glamorous evening proved to be an ideal launch platform for the interstellar adventure. Director Hain is continuing the promotional juggernaut, discussing the film on the popular internet radio program The Creedence And Bishop Show this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. PST / 6:30 p.m. ET.

The movie doesn't arrive in stores until this Friday, Sept. 30, but fans can watch a three-minute clip on Wicked's official YouTube page.
