Wicked Pursues Latin Market With Caliente

Wicked Pictures has just released the Latin-themed, wall-to-wall, high-def feature Caliente.

Directed by Wicked contract director Brad Armstrong, the DVD of Caliente features English, German and Spanish audio while the American VHS uses only the Spanish voice track — a first for the feature company.

“When it came to the VHS, we realized there was only one language you could put on the VHS and having the Spanish on it is what this product’s all about,” Wicked president Steve Orenstein told AVN.com. “We’ve been wanting to pursue the Latin audience for a long time and we are finalizing doing Spanish language tracks on all of our features going forward or a certain amount of our features at least. Certainly in the United States, Spanish is almost as viable as English as well as how it is in other parts of the world. There are companies out there putting Spanish on all-sex movies but it’s a little different than translating a ninety minute feature and certainly different costs that go along with that. It’s definitely a big undertaking but it’s important to us but we really want to go strong in that direction.”

Caliente stars Alexis Amore, Jasmine Byrne, Exotica, Ice LaFox, Jenavive Jolie, Sativa Rose and Shy Love along with Armstrong, AVN’s Best Male Newcomer Tommy Gunn, Kris Slater, Marcus Leon, Talon and Tyler Knight.

Normally a plot-based director, Armstrong enjoys directing the occasional wall to wall.

“The joy is you are making art for art’s sake,” Armstrong said. “You’re getting that other market with the gonzo guy who doesn’t want dialogue and you don’t have to worry about continuity and was that line right and was that character believable. It’s definitely one of those things where it leaves you to be a lot looser and a lot freer in what you are doing.”

Of Latin women, Armstrong offered, “Latina girls definitely have an added sense of sexuality and they have a tigress in them. They definitely always have a something.”
