Wicked Launches Armstrong’s ‘Carnal’ With Social Media Campaign

LOS ANGELES—Adult studio Wicked Pictures today announced the release of AVN Award-winning director Brad Armstrong's big-budget opus Carnal online and on DVD. Starring Wicked contract performer Jessica Drake and a large and diverse cast, the veteran filmmaker's second production of 2018 is described by the company as “a mesmerizing 2 1/2 hour fantasia of beauty, sensuality and inclusion.” Wicked’s multi-pronged promotional push for Carnal will include a social media campaign, dubbed #CarnallyInclusive, that will showcase the entire 18-member cast—among them former Wicked star Kaylani Lei, AVN Female Performer of the Year Angela White, veteran male star Sean Michaels and trans star Natassia Dreams.

The movie has already been featured in AVN magazine with an on-set report by Tod Hunter, in which Carnal co-star and AVN Hall of Fame actor Sean Michaels (pictured above with Drake) likened Armstrong's production to those of the European masters he worked with early in his career. "This reminds me of back in the day," he said fondly. "Back in the mid-nineties, we used to go to Europe to shoot, in castles, in costumes, with people like Joe D'Amato. This is what it’s about. Erotic entertainment at its highest level. This project is innovative." (To read the full story, see page 28 of the digital edition here.)

In addition to the aforementioned stars, Carnal also features Karma RX, Lily Lane, Mercedes Carrera, Tia Kai, Nyomi Star, Marica Hase, Ana Foxxx, Ember Snow, Tommy Gunn, Ryan Driller, Small Hands and Eric Masterson.

As part of the Carnal promotional roll-out, Wicked is spotlighting the diversity of the large cast with its #CarnallyInclusive social media campaign. Beginning Wednesday, August 8 and running 18 consecutive weekdays, each performer in the cast will receive a day of online tribute, including exclusive safe-for-work photo content from their scene in the movie. And once each day, the film's safe-for-work trailer will be released on Twitter. The first follower of twitter.com/wickedpictures to respond with "[spotlight performer] is #CarnallyInclusive" will receive a free copy of the movie on DVD.

"From Hall of Fame veterans to those who've never shot for Wicked before, everyone will be treated as the first among equals," said media liaison Daniel Metcalf. "We were honored to have such an incredible and diverse cast, and we look forward to spending the month of August giving each performer the spotlight they deserve. A report published by UCLA's Ralph Bunche Center, “Flipping the Script,” makes an inspirational point: ‘America’s increasingly diverse audiences prefer diverse content created with the input of diverse talent.’”

As someone who’s been on the record as a proponent of diversity, Drake thanked Armstrong and Wicked for allowing her the freedom to explore and expand the spirit of inclusion and acceptance in her work. “My passion comes from personal experience,” the three-time AVN Best Actress winner said. “From the idea we are all connected.”
