LOS ANGELES—Writer/director Eddie Nova takes viewers back to the 1970s for his new Wicked Pictures comedy Sunny Goldmelons, currently rolling out on Wicked.com.
The movie follows the adventures of a rural girl from Roosterpoot, Arkansas as she heads to Los Angeles in search of stardom, with Melody Marks in the title role.
Commented Nova, “Melody Marks literally became Sunny Goldmelons, capturing all of the sweet innocence and wide-eyed naiveté I wrote into the character and more. I'm so grateful for all of the love Melody put into bringing Sunny to life. It's one thing to write a character, but it's a whole other thing to see someone interpret it, flesh it out, and give it life. Melody is an exceptional actress.”
AVN Best New Starlet Chanel Camryn plays Sunny’s scheming “best friend” Marlene Thornbush. As Marlene's devious plans unfold, Sunny discovers the Goldmelons Prophecy, leading her on a cross-country adventure filled with laughter, love and revelations.
“Chanel stole the show as a comedy villain,” Nova added. “Melody and Chanel played so well off of each other, I have my fingers crossed that the movie is a success so I can bring the two of them back for a sequel.”
Nova had high praise for the movie's male leads as well. “Nathan Bronson is also a natural at comedy, and his Luke Butterbean fell into some sweet spot in between Tombstone and Three Amigos," he said. "And Robby Apples, as sweet '70s pimp Lorenzo Flambeau, was a show stopper. I loved how Robby got into the role of Lorenzo, reminding himself, 'Everything is delicious to a pimp.' He played Lorenzo absolutely delicious."
The first episode of Sunny Goldmelons is available now exclusively on Wicked.com.
