Weekend Update: Tampa Show 2004

This past weekend, leading up to Monday evening’s 12th annual Tampa Show, proved once again to be a great time for the 50 adult performers and industry people who have been in town since Thursday, Sept. 16.

On Friday, the stars were divided into three groups that alternated appearances at the first official stop of the Caravan of Stars: 2001 Odyssey — a well-known strip club that features lap dancing by some of Florida’s finest dancers. The place was packed, and at one point the fire marshal was called in to assess the crowd and, most certainly, ogle the stars.

Saturday the entire group took over OZ, also a strip club but sans lap dancing, located across Tampa Bay in Clearwater. Everything was very orderly, rockin’ and fun. In fact, the crowd was so appreciative that stars like Stormy were overheard commenting that they wished they had brought more promo material, as their stock was quickly depleted.

Sunday is traditionally an “off” day, and just about all the stars took advantage of their free time by spending the afternoon in Palm Harbor at the home of Paul Allen, owner of Nightmoves magazine, which sponsors the yearly invitational event.

Great music, fine weather, good eats and drinks and a sparkling pool enabled everyone to relax and indulge in the true spirit of the entire weekend: adult stars being themselves and enjoying life — and Florida.

Sunday also saw the arrival of Ron Jeremy and Jenna Jameson. Jeremy has made it a tradition of always, without fail, arriving late, “…but I never miss a Nighmoves pool party.” This is Jenna’s first return visit — she last did this show in 1995, when she received her first award. Another late arrival was a very pregnant BellaDonna.

Sunday evening, the Durango Restaurant featured Porn Star Karaoke, co-sponsored by Wankus and KSEXradio.com, and Nightmoves. Open to the public, porn stars and fans alike occasionally sang together in harmony.

Only two stars who have been in town for all events will have to miss the main show this evening: Ann Marie and Kelly Erikson. Both of these Metro contract girls have to depart early in order to be ready for the Baltimore show, which begins Tuesday.

Over the weekend, the stars performed numerous radio spots. WILD 98.7 featured performers like Carmen Luvana, Lexy Lamour and Devon Michaels. 93.3 FLV had Hannah Harper and Regan Anthony chomping on the mike. Krystal Steal and Gina Lynn entertained listeners on 98 ROCK.

Tonight, Sept. 20, the 12th Annual Tampa Show (aka The Nightmoves Adult Entertainment Awards Show) will be held at Stormin’s Palace, 2675 Ulmerton Rd. in Clearwater.

In addition to the presentation of national and regional awards, specialty dance acts by Lori Alexia, Regan Anthony, Stormy, Tyler Faith, Devon Michaels, Alexis Amore and others will spice up the evening.
