Walters Receives ASACP Service Recognition Award

Veteran First Amendment attorney Lawrence G. Walters received the 2005 Annual Service Recognition Award from Adult Sites Against Child Pornography, during the January 6 XBiz Awards presentation that coincided with Internext Expo in Las Vegas.

ASACP executive director Joan Irvine praised Walters for being a staunch supporter of ASACP and for caring about children in general, not to mention offering his services to the group pro bono during a difficult transition for the group.

“Larry saw the progress ASACP was making in its mission and offered his services on a pro-bono basis to help guide ASACP during this critical growth period," she said in a statement. "Most associations would not have the benefit of such expertise. When legal questions arise or before we implement new services, we ask Larry for his opinion. He is always available to us. We very much appreciate Larry’s help.”

Long familiar for representing Adult entertainment and other clients in First Amendment-sensitive cases, not to mention his writings for various Adult Webmaster resource publications including AVN Online, Walters founded the Internet Freedom Association and is a member of Free Speech Coalition's Internet Committee. He also founded and chairs the Florida Bar Association's First Amendment Law Committee.

Walters most recently addressed a Free Speech Coalition gathering on updates to Title 18, Section 2257, and the newly-expanded federal labeling law, during this month's Adult Entertainment Expo.
