Waat Media Acquires Mobile Game Developer Charismatix

Mobile entertainment developer Waat Media announced that it has acquired Charismatix Ltd. & Co. KG, one of Europe’s top mobile game development companies.

Headquartered in Germany, Charismatix develops all categories of mobile multimedia applications and works with major game and entertainment brands in the European, Asian, and U.S. markets.

“Charismatix’s award-winning development team, porting, and download platforms are the best in the industry and a critical factor in expanding our current offering and fully integrating our new services including video chat onto the operator’s portal,” says Ian Aaron, president and chief executive officer of Waat Media. “Charismatix is also a strategic move for us as we expand our product offering to include applications such as mobile Web dating and video chat, a portfolio of branded poker and casino games, and other late-night entertainment programming.”

According to Eugen Barteska, managing director of Charismatix, “The combination of Waat’s global distribution footprint, brand relationships, and our development platform immediately expands our games publishing business dramatically. Along with our development-framework, the most comprehensive porting platform in the business, our merger with Waat allows us to bring our new products, including location-based services, interactive video applications, and multi-player 3D games to our operator and brand partners on an expedited basis.”

Charismatix was founded in 2002 and develops Java games and entertainment products for mobile devices. The company recently won the German 2005 Game Developer Award for Best Mobile Game in the Best Action Game category.
