CYBERSPACE—To find an expert practitioner of the sharing economy, look no further than adult performer Kissa Sins. She and her partner, veteran porn stud Johnny Sins, have built a cyber-empire by sharing their lives with their fans. And this month they added another dimension to that collective universe with a weekly safe-for-work YouTube reality show, which can be found at SinsTV.com.
The vlog is the latest addition to Sins World, which also includes a membership site (SinsLife.com), a DVD line distributed by Jules Jordan Video, and a robust arsenal of fan-pleasing social media accounts—Twitter, Instagram, SnapChat, what-have-you. It’s no wonder the relative newcomer nabbed the Web Queen Fan Award at the 2017 AVN Awards Show.
Fresh from a workout, the bootylicious Kissa took some time out to talk about her newest project, and its future.
For the past two years, Kissa and Johnny have lived in Hawaii, which, judging from their first two vlog posts, is every bit as idyllic as one might imagine. “Johnny and I have kind of a double life,” Kissa says. “We have this really calm Hawaii life that’s all about nature and yoga and eating healthy and waterfalls. And then when we go back to Vegas or when we travel for porn, we have a totally different life.”
The vlog debuted April 17 with the first in a multi-part saga about their trip to Hana, an unspoiled oasis on the island of Maui. The most memorable shot offers a spectacular drone’s-eye view of the couple playing in the surf with their two pit bulls before heading off on the Hana adventure. Sporting tousled brown locks, Kissa is the picture of island casual, and the two follow their adventures in detail, even taking the GoPro inside Target as they stock up for the trip. Augmenting the gorgeous scenery in the first episode are three tracks by an artist named Dyalla. “I can’t stand stock music or royalty-free music so I’m actually searching the internet all the time for new artists,” Kissa says. “I’m paying some money for those tracks but it’s totally worth it to me to create a vibe, you know?”
Two more episodes will continue to chronicle the Hana trip. After that, the Sins will go island hopping. One of their stops will be on the big island, Kissa reveals. “We’re staying on a couple of different sides of the island, and one night we’re actually staying on the active volcano. You can see the lava flow from your room, supposedly, in this one place we rented. And you take the bikes at night and ride to the lava, and you can see the lava glowing.”
By summertime they’ll be far from Hawaii, but the vlog will continue. “In June I’m coming back to feature dance at Sapphire and we’re shooting, so we’re going to vlog all of that,” Kissa says, adding, “We’re going to vlog the entire process of moving from Hawaii to Vegas, and then we’ll have different girls on our show every day or every other day.”
As to why she started the vlog, it seems a natural outgrowth of her work in adult. “When I met Johnny I was with him for over a year before I got into porn. And the way that I got into porn was I’ve always had an erotica blog where I write very detailed erotica stories about us having sex and our adventures sexually. And it caught on because people were so intrigued. My blog hit a million views in like three months or something, before I did porn.”
After a while, though, “it just became too difficult to share every detail with everyone. I wanted to show them everything. It became very time-consuming for me to try to explain everything. … So I just decided to film it all and share it, because everyone’s so intrigued by all the details.”
Among the things she’ll be sharing is a “fitness journey.” Kissa points out, “Everyone wants to know my booty workout, so all my booty workouts will go on there. All kinds of fitness stuff. There’s a lot to share.”
But to be successful in the sharing economy, one needs to be able to monetize one’s creations. To help with that, Kissa has turned to a “cool platform” called Patreon. “It helps people who want to make free content on the internet. It helps them get paid for it,” she explains. “For instance, you can donate a dollar and you get access to all kinds of BTS and we follow you on social media—and you get the SinsTV episodes a day early.”
There are various tiers of support, the most popular of which supplies patrons with a “monthly care package.” It’s a brand-new level, and the first package has yet to go out. “Basically you get an 8x10 that you choose every month, there’s limited-edition stickers and autographed Polaroids, and your name goes in the credits,” Kissa details. “People are really loving it. And we do Google Hangouts for our patrons. We did a Google Hangout last week and it was a blast. It’s so fun. It feels like you’re really hanging out with the people, and you get to know them. It’s kind of like a SinsTV club, I would say.”
Fans of the Aloha State should take the time now to enjoy the vlog, because soon the Sins are moving on. “Hawaii is incredible, but it’s a bit difficult to run a porn website out here and that’s why we’re moving back to Vegas. It’s great and everything, but flying back all the time and flying girls here is so pricy. When we move back to Vegas, we can hire a new girl every day. So we need to go back and concentrate on work. We’ve had our fun for two years, but we need to get serious.”
But getting serious doesn’t mean Kissa and Johnny will stop having fun. “I can’t wait to get to Vegas. It’ll be so interesting. We’re going to bring girls over for our sex tour and then shoot a whole SinsTV episode of that,” she says. “Porn fans are so interested in how porn stars are when they’re not [performing]. It’s going to be interesting to shed a new light on porn stars and show that they’re people. They’re just normal, adorable people.”
