For the last two weeks all Vivid Entertainment compilations have been released in both VHS and DVD formats simultaneously.
“Much to my amazement the numbers on the VHS have actually gone up,” Howard Levine, national sales manager of Vivid product for LFP, told AVN.com. “I have no way of explaining why that is – but I suppose they are driving each other. The retailer, I believe is trying to give the consumer, at that very moment of purchase, the choice.”
In August Vivid will begin releasing all of their features as day-and-dates. Virtual Love, starring Kira Kenner, will be the first Vivid feature released in that fashion and will ship on August 11.
“I was not a big believer for day and date. I wanted to hold off until it was absolutely necessary. Now it is,” admitted Levine, who noted that recently DVD sales surpassed VHS sales for the first time.
