Vivid Entertainment Ships Debbie Does Dallas...Again

Vivid Entertainment Group is now shipping its highly-anticipated porn blockbuster Debbie Does Dallas...Again to retail stores nationwide. Director Paul Thomas' big-budget update of the iconic '70s cheerleader porn flick will arrive in stores April 18.

"In a world with very few brand name titles, obviously Debbie Does Dallas is right at the top, so it was important to us to do a movie that upheld that status," Vivid co-chairman Steven Hirsch told AVN.com. "We really went all out for this release."

As Hirsch indicated, Debbie ranks as one of the company's most high-profile projects of the year. Thomas' film stars Stefani Morgan in the title role, along with Vivid beauties Monique Alexander, Savanna Samson, Sunny Leone and Cassidey. Vivid also produced an "alt-porn" version of Debbie directed by Eon McKai; the making of both films is chronicled in a reality TV miniseries currently airing on Showtime.

Packaged in an eye-popping lenticular 3-D box, Debbie Does Dallas...Again is available in standard DVD and HD DVD formats. The standard DVD comes in a 3-disc collector's set containing the new Debbie, the original 1978 starring Bambi Woods and R. Bolla, and a bonus disc packed with extra features. The DVD bonus menu includes extensive behind-the-scenes footage, over an hour of extra sex footage from the movie, three photo galleries, and six bonus scenes from Vivid's previous titles in the Debbie franchise.

The HD DVD version will be released as a single disc with the same bonuses, but without the classic '70s Debbie. Although a Blu-ray edition of Debbie was originally planned to debut on the same date, replication issues have delayed that release until the end of April.

"Unfortunately, our original replicator came back to us and said that they weren't able to replicate for us," Hirsch told AVN.com. "We don't know why - maybe it was Sony and maybe it was Disney, but for some reason they backed out. We were forced to find a new replicator, which we did, and we are moving full speed ahead with the Blu-ray release."

Vivid has not yet announced a release date for Eon McKai's "alt-porn" take on the Debbie mythos.

Of Thomas' version, Hirsch said, "We think it's the best Debbie Does Dallas movie ever made- we're excited with they way that the movie came out, and hopefully, retailers will do well with it."
