UPDATE: [1:50 p.m.]: The source reports to AVN that Rain has been removed from life support and is breathing on her own. Initial brain tests performed on her show that the side of her brain that controls walking and speaking is unresponsive, but other parts of her brain register activity.
UPDATE [1:37 p.m.]: AVN spoke with a source close to the situation Friday afternoon who wishes to remain unnamed, but provided the following statements on Rain’s condition refuting circulating rumors that her family has instructed doctors to take her off life support:
“She is currently still on life support. I don’t know why people are saying that she’s passed away; the family obviously want to give her the time, because there is that slight possibility that she could wake up. So no, she is not off of life support—when they’re going to pull it is still to be determined.”
Attesting to have been in contact with the detective investigating the case since Monday, the source noted, “I just talked to the detective this morning. I talk to her family as well, her sister gives me updates as well, so I would be the first to know if something like that was going to happen.”
As to rumors that Rain has been declared “brain dead,” the source said, “She doesn’t have a lot of brain activity. What happened was, she was seizing when she was brought in. I don’t know why people are saying she OD’d in the club, that’s completely false. She was brought into the hospital, her body was seizing and her brain at the same time; they got her body to stop seizing, but her brain seized for over 14 hours, and she lost oxygen to her brain for over 10 minutes. And so [it] pretty much fried her brain … there’s still some activity going on, but even if she did wake up, she would never have general functionality again.
“I don’t want Violet’s story to be known as some girl OD’ing in a club, because that’s not what happened to her,” the source added. “Something awful happened to her, we just don’t know what it is yet.”
LOS ANGELES—Adult performer Violet Rain remains in critical condition on life support at an L.A. hospital after an apparent drug overdose, her agent Dave Rock, president of Motley Models, told AVN Friday.
Rock’s statement follows:
“It was communicated to us by a friend of Violet Rain’s that she was admitted to the hospital Monday morning in critical condition. The alleged reason for the admittance was due to a drug overdose. The friend continued to report to us as she remained in ICU until Wednesday when her family had flown in from Arizona to be by her side, as she still had not regained consciousness.
“Our source was at the hospital as of late Thursday night and Violet remained on life support. According to our source, she remains in critical condition as her family surrounds her. It’s our belief that reports that she has passed are premature and inaccurate.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with Violet and her family as we remain hopeful that she will pull through.”
The 19-year-old performer has performed in about 40 scenes since the summer of 2018, including work for Digital Playground, Digital Sin, Zero Tolerance, Team Skeet, AMKingdom and Girlfriends Films.
