LOS ANGELES—AVN Hall of Fame member and longtime adult movie editor Sonny Malone has penned a memoir titled Smutcutter: How I Survived Porn.
Released through Bear Manor Media, the book documents Malone's roller coaster journey through the industry working with many of the most prominent companies and directors in the history of adult cinema.
Commented Malone, "Working with so many creative people gave me an insight into the industry most people would never see. When I started telling people about my adult career at my new mainstream job, everyone had tons of questions. Then I realized I had been editing adult films for over 27 years. I had all these stories, amazing people I met and thought it was time to document things."
When she first pitched the book to Bear Manor, it was the second chapter that sold it, Malone reports.
"What do you cut out of a porn film? There is a list. It includes ringing cell phones, coughs and squeaks from pleather couches," she wryly explains.
Smutcutter: How I Survived Porn is available through Amazon, Bear Manor Media, and will soon be released in other outlets.
"When you read it, if you are in the industry, you will know," Malone concluded. "If you are not, you are going to want to know."
