TruTV's 'I'm Sorry' Invokes AVN Awards

HOLLYWOOD—When you get a mention on a big-time TV show, you gotta toot your own horn a bit, right?

Well, the pilot episode of new TruTV sitcom I'm Sorry, which aired last Wednesday night, included a funny reference to the AVN Awards in its opening moments, and we just had to share.

In the scene, set at a home poker game, the character of Kyle (Jason Mantzoukas) gets very excited when Paul (LaMonica Garrett) divulges that a woman he works with is a major retired porn star by the name of "Sienna Sparkles."

"She is like my favorite porn star," Kyle exclaims. "She was Miss Howard Stern 2009, she was AVN Best Anal four years in a row."

"Oh, is that a hard record to get?" main character Andrea (writer and show creator Andrea Savage) asks mockingly.

"That's huge!" Kyle responds ... and we'll back him up—if anybody ever in fact pulled that off, it would be a record for the ages.

We won't ruin any of the genuinely laugh-out-loud jokes that set-up leads to, but suffice it to say, it's a show worth checking out.

Airing Wednesdays at 10 p.m./9 p.m. Central, the show's cast also includes such well known stars as Tom Everett Scott (That Thing You Do!La La Land), Judy Greer (JawbreakerJurassic World) and Martin Mull (RoseanneArrested Development).
