'The Submission of Emma Marx: Exposed' Takes Big Honors at 2017 AVN Awards

LOS ANGELESThe Submission of Emma Marx: Exposed, the third and final chapter in New Sensations' acclaimed BDSM trilogy, earned top honors in five categories at the 2017 AVN Awards, including Best Director - Feature, Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, Best Soundtrack, and Best Editing.

"The Emma Marx series has defined so much of my adult career and success," said writer and director Jacky St. James. "I was overjoyed to see AVN's recognition of the final installment. It is very meaningful to me that my work at New Sensations has spoken to people and earned the respect of critics. Thank you to AVN and to all who supported the Emma series."

The Submission of Emma Marx: Exposed earns St. James her first directing award for the series and her second consecutive win for its screenplay. The film also marks Eddie Powell's first cinematography award and his second, back-to-back win for the series' editing.

Released in 2013 as a truthful portrayal of a contractual BDSM relationship, The Submission of Emma Marx introduced what would become one of adult cinema's most enthralling and complicated love stories, acknowledged in the Showtime documentary, X-Rated: The Greatest Adult Movies of All Time.

AVN named The Submission of Emma Marx and its sequel, The Submission of Emma Marx: Boundaries, Best BDSM Movie in 2014 and 2016, respectively. The Submission of Emma Marx: Exposed brings an emotional end to the romance between Emma Marx and William Fredrick, portrayed by Penny Pax and Richie Calhoun, and makes the Emma Marx trilogy one of the most acclaimed in adult film.

"To see the Emma Marx trilogy embraced over the years by an audience deeply engaged in its storyline, characters, and eroticism has been its own reward, but to have the talented people who have brought it to life throughout the years recognized is a wonderful honor," New Sensations/ Digital Sin President Scott Taylor said. "We thank AVN for its ongoing support and acknowledgement."

Digital Sin also scored majored wins at this year's show, taking Best Specialty Series - Other Genre for its coed bondage line Schoolgirl Bound and winning Best Taboo Relations Movie for the third year running with the Tabu Tales release Me, My Brother, and Another, a threesome-themed vignette focused on stepsibling seductions.
