CHATSWORTH, Calif.—“I’m not new,” Ryder Skye laughs. “I’ve been around for a minute or two.” The petite (5-foot-2) brunette started in 2007—gracing the “Fresh New Faces” cover of AVN magazine in May 2008—and her career has continued, with some gaps, ever since.
Skye got into porn “based on a dare” by her husband at the time. First she did stripping, then topless photos, then videos. “I was like, ‘Let’s see if I can do it.’ So I did my first scene on Easter Sunday. It was a solo and it was kind of fun. I had a job working as an executive assistant at the time. I hated it, I was miserable. I quit my job, went back to school and did porn.”
She shot continuously from 2007 to 2010. Then a bout with cervical cancer—which she won—caused a stoppage. “Until 2015 I wasn’t really working.” By 2018 she was back up to speed, encouraged by a loyal fan base that she feeds on social media.
Now 32, she has moved smoothly into MILF roles. Recently she’s been featured on Brazzers, Team Skeet, Reality Kings, She Will Cheat and MYLF.com. “Holly Randall, I did a scene for her, one of my best scenes, I thought.”
Her off-screen activities are legion. They include “building things, gardening, screen printing, photography, painting, pretty much anything artistic or hands-on. …. I’ve lived in an apartment for eight or nine years and I’ve changed the whole thing. I’ve redone the floors, painted the walls. I do my own plumbing and electricity stuff.
“And I make clothes. I design and sew. I’m starting a clothing company called PornStar Hippie™. It’s patterns from the ’70s that are redesigned to look a bit more modern—tie-dyes, bell bottoms …”
But topping her to-do list is porn. “I love it. I love my job. I like to work as much as possible. The money never really mattered to me as much as the job. I really love doing this. I want to do as much as I can before I do retire.”
