Daisy Taylor Wins Big at 2021 TEAs

LOS ANGELES—Daisy Taylor captured the most-coveted trophy at the Transgender Erotica Awards Sunday evening, yet her acceptance speech for Hardcore Performer of the Year lasted only 31 seconds.

The brevity, though, was completely understandable.

By that point in the ceremony Taylor had run out of things to say.

That’s what happens when you rake in hardware like casino chips during a Vegas hot streak, and it certainly felt that way for Taylor throughout Sunday’s virtual event, when Taylor tallied three awards total.

Taylor was named Pornhub Model of the Year. And her Halloween-themed tryst for Grooby.com with “porn husband” Dante Colle earned Best Boy/Girl scene honors, marking Taylor’s second-straight win in that category.

Still, no accolade carries as much prestige as the Hardcore Performer of the Year award, which Taylor—looking stunning in a pink corset—seemed elated to win.

“Not to toot my own horn,” Taylor said, “but I can’t say I’m surprised, because I really love to get fucked. Thanks to everyone who watched, and thanks to everyone who fucked me. I’m very grateful. What a crazy wild year it’s been—and some crazy-wild dicks have been up in this butt.”

Sunday’s ceremony capped off a banner year for the 22-year-old Taylor, who in just two years has ascended to the upper echelon of stars in her genre. A vivacious 5-foot-10 brunette, Taylor was named Most Popular Trans Performer by Pornhub last fall. And in January her showcase Daisy Taylor: Exclusive Angel won Best Trans Production honors at the AVN Awards.

Taylor’s success is even more impressive considering her competition, as the industry touts more trans megastars than ever before. And many of them were honored alongside Taylor at the TEAs.

Arguably no performer boasts as much momentum right now as Casey Kisses, who tied Taylor with a ceremony-high three trophies Sunday. Along with winning Best Cam Model for the second straight year, Kisses earned Chaturbate’s Cam Model of the Year and was also named Kinkiest TGirl Domme in an award presented by Kink.com.

“This award means so much to me,” Kisses, who won two AVN awards in January, said. “Kink is one of the first sites that I saw that I really looked up to and I really wanted to be a part of. They would always come to the TEA Awards with their Kink sweaters on, and we’d always be like, ‘Oh, those are the Kink kids. Those are the cool kids.

“Kink has welcomed me with open arms—and I’m not just going to say me. I’m sure I speak for the majority of other trans porn stars. They always make sure that my level of comfort is where it needs to be. That’s so important, especially in this industry. They’ve provided me with one of the sexiest sets, and one of the safest sets.”

Other than Hardcore Performer of the Year, the TEAs award with the biggest intrigue every March is Best New Face. This year, though, was different, as Emma Rose was as close to a shoo-in as a performer could possibly get.

After shooting exclusively for OnlyFans for more than a year, Rose moved from Florida to Las Vegas at the start of 2021 and transitioned to studio porn. Even with the pandemic limiting her 2020 scene credits, Rose's rise to A-list star was nothing short of meteoric.

“It was kind of crazy,” Rose said. “When I started porn, everything shut down because of COVID, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, I don’t know what I’m going to do.’ I was just doing OnlyFans. I didn’t shoot for four months, and then I moved to Vegas. And literally since then it’s taken off, and it’s been one hell of a ride. It’s been truly amazing.”

Winning the Best New Face award is usually a predictor of good things to come, as past honorees include some of the genre’s biggest names. Among them: Taylor, Natalie Mars, Kayleigh Coxx and Khloe Kay, who seemed thrilled Sunday to win the Fans Choice award for favorite performer.

“It means the absolute world to me that I have such a loving fan-base that went out and voted for me for this award,” Kay said. “I’m literally at a loss for words over this. It means so much to me that I have so many followers and supporters that love me for me —and love my dog (Kuda), as well. Without you guys I would literally be nowhere. It warms my heart. I’m to the moon.”

Another fan favorite, Aspen Brooks, was named Miss Unique. Brooks said the award is about more than her trademark orange hair.

“Miss Unique isn’t just about standing out in a crowd,” she said. “It’s about being unapologetic in everything you do, and not being afraid to be your true self.”

One year after winning Best DVD for her very first project, TransNasty, Lena Moon pulled off a repeat by claiming victory for Tranimals, a hardcore film that includes an AVN-nominated scene featuring milk enemas. Moon thanked Evil Angel owner John Stagliano for letting her cut her directing chops with his company.

“I’m really happy you guys liked this one,” Moon said. “And I hope you guys like the next one.”

Hmmm … could there be a three-peat in Moon’s future?

One of the better speeches of the ceremony came from Canadian star Evie Envy, who seemed genuinely moved to be named Best Non-US Performer.

“It’s a beautiful feeling to be recognized for something you really love doing and that you’re passionate about,” Envy said. “I’ve been in this industry for about a year now. So far it’s been one of the most beautiful and passionate experiences of my life. Not just with the people on set and the performers, but also the fans. You’ve been so encouraging, and it’s encouraged me to take myself further and take my content further and elevate myself. I’m grateful for that.

“It’s been a really dark year, but entering this industry has been a huge highlight for me, and it speaks volumes about our industry and our community that we can thrive during this dark time.”

Jasmine Lotus echoed that same sentiment after being selected as Best Solo Model.

“I’m really grateful,” Lotus said. “This has changed my entire life and how I go about making money and doing things. It’s really put things in a positive light for me.”
