MONTREAL—Director Ricky Greenwood's much-hyped sequel Confessions of a Sinful Nun 2: The Rise of Sister Mona arrives today on DVD from Sweetheart Video and parent company Mile High Media.
This follow-up to Greenwood's acclaimed 2017 nunsploitation feature continues its taboo tale of lesbianism at a convent, with 2019 AVN All-Girl Performer of the Year Charlotte Stokely, Mona Wales and Nina Hartley reprising their roles, joined by new cast members Lena Paul, Cassidy Banks, Kenna James, Magdalene St. Michaels and Serene Siren.
"We are proud to present the sequel to Confessions of a Sinful Nun from the talented Ricky Greenwood," Mile High vice president Jon Blitt said. "We know this will be another hit—the DVD has record pre-orders."
The movie has already received rave reviews from a number of critics, including Art Koch, national features and DVD editor for NightMoves magazine and AAN. Giving it a perfect 5 star rating, Koch wrote, "This is a powerful sequel from the folks at Sweetheart after their award winning and critically acclaimed initial release of Confessions of a Sinful Nun ... the storyline centered around Sister Mona is powerful, passionate, straightforward and filled with the lust and desire of the human mind and body."
AdultDVDTalk's Captain Jack agreed, writing, "The story lives up to the hype as we peek inside the walls of a convent. The acting is very good, especially from Nina, Magdalene, Serene, Charlotte and Mona. As for the sex, the two best scenes were from Mona and Serene and Charlotte and Kenna. But special props to Nina who still has it going on! This is a release that has it all and should be up for a few awards during the next awards season!"
Apache Warrior of XCritic also called for award nominations for the cast, commenting, "Magdalene St. Michaels' acting performance is very wicked. She deserves to get nominated for Best Actress for this role. It's her best acting performance this year. Mona Wales will receive much sympathy for her role. ... She deserves to receive a Best Actress nomination too."
As a company synopsis details, "Confessions of a Sinful Nun 2: The Rise of Sister Mona opens just a few months from where the original left off with Sister Mona (Mona Wales) learning that she will be transferred to Mother Joan's (Magdalene St. Michaels) abbey. Mother Joan rules her abbey very differently. She's tough, very strict with her nuns and she's determined to put a stop to Sister Mona's immoral behavior. Meanwhile, Sister Charlotte (Charlotte Stokely) needs to take on more responsibility in her convent. With the help of a recently transferred novitiate, Tina (Kenna James), she wants to make sure that Mother Superior's (Nina Hartley) lovely way of living stays as it is for a long time. Unfortunately for them, the diocese doesn't see it the same way and their accepted way of life may be shaken to its core."
