BOSTON—Sssh.com announced today a new collaboration between its founder, feminist porn pioneer Angie Rowntree, and longtime adult film director Nica Noelle. Together the award-winning duo plan to expand the Sssh.com website to offer a new line of psychological thrillers.
Production will begin in early September, with performer Roman Todd and newcomer Ashley Logan playing a couple brought together by dark forces.
Rowntree said the line is in response to overwhelming requests for "suspense" movies on the members-only site. One of the first female-owned and operated adult studios, Sssh.com has long featured content based on member-submitted fantasies. The site will celebrate its 20th anniversary this year.
"Angie is the most accomplished adult film director I've ever met," Noelle said "She's super humble and tries to fly under the radar, but she's got an amazing list of accomplishments both in porn and out. For years she's been quietly laying the foundation for the rest of us to build on."
Rowntree's recent feature film, Invictus, is currently available on Amazon Prime, and portions of her films for Sssh.com appear on Netflix.
"No other pornographer has infiltrated Amazon Prime and Netflix," Noelle said. "Only Angie."
"Nica and I share an artistic vision—and a deep friendship," Rowntree said. "We've been brainstorming for months for a way to bring our visions together and create something new for fans."
"Nica’s track record speaks for itself," said Rowntree of Noelle, who created Mile High Media studios Sweetheart Video, Sweet Sinner Films, TransSensual and Icon Male. "She's got the Midas touch and I'm thrilled she will be creating this series under the Sssh.com label."
Noelle’s first psychological thriller will be shot in New Hampshire. "It's a simple but terrifying story. That's all I'll say for now," said Noelle.
"After I read Nica's screenplay I got up and turned on every light in the house," Rowntree said with a laugh. "That's how I knew we were on to something."
The series will be "kind of a cross between The Twilight Zone and the HBO series Room 104, with a lot of sex mixed in," Noelle said.
The series will also feature straight, gay and trans performers.
"Nothing is more important than respecting the people you work with because without that, you have nothing," Noelle said. "I've been lucky to have that at Mile High Media, and I'm sure I'll be working with Angie for many years to come."
