CHATSWORTH, Calif.—Today is Cinco de Mayo, a holiday that got its start as a celebration of the Battle of Puebla in 1862, when Mexican forces triumphed over an invading French army. But in the United States the holiday has morphed into a celebration of Mexican and Chicano culture in general—from music and dance to chips and salsa. Here at AVN we’re more interested in celebrating hotness of a different variety, so when AVN Live host James Bartholet said he wanted to check in on adult stars with backgrounds rooted in the broader world of Latin America, we thought that sounded like a suitable way to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. So join us in offering a toast to Latin loveliness.
James Bartholet: With all due respect to all the other women on the planet, what is it that makes Latinas so damned hot?
Tia Cyrus: I believe most Latinas have an exotic mystery in us that makes men and women keep coming back for more. We fuck with so much passion that it even drives me crazy at times. Besides, most of us speak two or more languages and we can deliver that Latin flair into a scene by just speaking a little Spanish … which also adds a signature touch into the scene.
Luna Star: We are very passionate women—plus, men love our accents. I think our accents are sexy. They also love it when we talk dirty in Spanish. Also, we have a sexiness in the way we walk and move in the bedroom. I love being a Latina and I'm proud of my Cuban heritage.
Chloe Amour: A Latina usually has this sort of presence about her as soon as she walks into a room. There's a mystery of what she's about, her culture and livelihood. It comes off as intriguing. I've run into many people who end up liking me more when they find out I'm Latina. A Latina woman has a confident attitude about her; she's strong and willing. Latinas secretly love sex, are in touch with their bodies and know what they want. At least this Latina, anyway!
Selma Sins: We have real curves and that alone makes us so sexy. … We love to be passionate and romantic. When I'm on camera all I think about is being very involved with my partner—man or woman—and give myself to them. That is the reason why we have such powerful scenes.
Lisa Daniels: Latin woman are very sensual and loving, and we are very powerful women. I think the whole combination comes out on camera.
Bliss Dulce: I think all women are beautiful, but I suppose Latinas just have something special about them. Perhaps it's a natural ability to be hypersexual, or maybe it's that we are thick in all the right places.
Nikki Delano: Latinas embody that physical presence of being aggressive, sensual and extremely feisty. On camera we are passionate and dominant women. We control the scene not only with our sexy words but with our sexual aura, which exudes from our pores.
Liv Aguilera: My personal opinion about why Latinas are sexy is the fact that we were built with the closest thing to perfection. We have beautiful tan skin, curves that kill, and sex appeal unrivaled by anyone. Everything about Latinas—the way we talk, walk, etc.—screams sex.
Alexis Amore: Latinas are hot-blooded. They love sex and love to please their lovers. At least for me I felt naughty and sexy having sex on camera for the world to see.
Daisy Marie: I get asked that question a lot, and there are so many reasons: the way we're built, the way we move, the way we talk and think. Latinas always like to make eye contact, and that is really sexy. When we're in the bedroom, we can wear a man out.
Bridgette B.: We are born a certain way and have a very natural, passionate way of living life. We hate as strongly as we love. We fuck as strongly as we fight.
James Bartholet: Do you think Latinas are getting cast in better roles, or are the roles still stereotypical?
Chloe Amour: I'm in the middle on that. Latinas can get cast in better roles but it seems that the entire world stereotypes.
Liv Aguilera: Latinas can be cast for many different roles. Some of us have looks that can be very versatile, but those who look generally Latina tend to get roles that can be very stereotypical. It isn't necessarily a bad thing. In fact, some of my favorite roles have been 100 percent typecast.
Alexis Amore: Well, I think we need more Latinas in better roles … more movies that have Latinas as the feature instead of the maid or the nanny. … We have so many more Latinas in the industry now than when I first started that this should be easy to do.
Tia Cyrus: Not enough scenes, I believe, are given to Latinas unless it's required by directors for a certain series or maybe some parodies. If you have an authentic look as a Latina, then most likely you won't be in scenes that are so stereotypically for Latinas such as being a maid, house keeper, crazy Latina girlfriend, etc. I've been playing the girl next door or a babysitter for almost six years in porn. I can count on two hands how many times I've been in a scene that required me to speak or be a fiery Latina.
Nikki Delano: I believe Latinas are diversifying the cast of current talent in our present industry of women. I alone have witnessed the acceptance of Latin women into typical American scenes.
Bridgette B.: Mainstream has much better roles as a whole. Porn still has Latinas as the maids or gang chicks. However, it is entertainment and I view it as such.
Selma Sins: Yes, there is still a lot of stereotypical roles out there but also there is now more mainstream roles. A few months ago I got booked to do a scene for an indie movie and the scene was a non-sex scene and it was not stereotypical which was awesome. I got to explore my acting skills and play with a different role. I'm glad there is a change of roles now for us Latina woman, we are strong independent woman and it's about time we get deserving roles.
James Bartholet: The industry doesn't see many Latina directors. Would you like to direct someday? If so, what would you do?
Nikki Delano: That is very true. I wish I could see more dominant women in this industry leading and directing. However, I am organizing all the tools and outlets to start directing for my very own production company. I will definitely have Latin movies, but there will be a diverse genre of films being produced.
Luna Star: Yes, I would one day, but I have more to learn about directing first. When I'm on the set I'm very professional, and I observe how they are making the movies as well. I'm going to start work on my official site this year.
Tia Cyrus: I direct for my website TiaCyrusXXX.com and create the script in each scene I do. My fans are what inspire me to create some of the scenes I do. Fans email me on ideas or compliment me on my past scenes. So, create what's in demand and people will be pleased. But maybe in the future I can be taken seriously for a directing role after I have made my mark as a performer.
Selma Sins: I definitely want to direct my scenes and movies. I do have planned to do that sometime later this year and possibly in the future own my production company. I do have some ideas of movies and parodies I want to make but I'll keep that to myself. For scenes I do want to do a lot of girl/girl scenes. I love girls and I love to please them and I don't get to shoot a lot of those, so for my site I definitely want to get a few done! I love to shoot interracial and I haven't shot any gangbangs or blowbangs as of yet, so I wanna do that for my fans as well as for my own personal fantasies.
Chloe Armour: Yes! Something organic, original, funky, and with a piece of me attached to it.
Bliss Dulce: YES, YES, YES! Directing is something I've always wanted to pursue in the industry. There are a lot of ideas I have, but I'd like to direct a reality-based line of movies, as well as lots of lesbian porn and fetish stuff, anal, cream pie and handjobs.
Alexis Amore: Directing is one of my favorite things to do, and of course starring too. I had a blast putting together ideas when I directed at Anabolic, and when I was contracted with Metro and JKP. I wish I had the opportunity to do it again. Ideas are always running around in my little head.
Lisa Daniels: I might someday want to direct, but for now I just love being in front of the camera.
Daisy Marie: I don't know; maybe I might. I'm just performing girl/girl and solo right now and performing in my feature dance tours across the country, and starting a clothing company, so I'm really busy. But, if the right opportunity comes up, I might be interested.
Bridgette B.: I would love to direct and plan on doing so. I have many feature-style ideas appropriate for those who want to follow something more in-depth and get more involved with the characters.
James Bartholet: Are you as hot off camera as you are on camera?
Chloe Amour: Oh, yes, of course. I know how to please myself as well as others. I'm fire! Or should I say fuego.
Selma Sins: Well, I definitely try to be. Wink wink! When I’m not on set or being Selma Sins, I like to be casual and comfy. You'll catch me with a tank top, some jean shorts and sandals—very Valley type of girl.
Tia Cyrus: Yes!!!!! But who I am on camera is completely different from who I am in the bedroom. In the bedroom I like to be fresh out of a shower, massaged, completely natural with no makeup, and very romantically intimate with candles in the room while making love. On camera I'm a complete made-up, girl-next-door slut. A big difference, but I adore both. I release my alter ego on set and the wifey in the bedroom.
