Smash to Distribute Spain’s IFG Productions

Smash Productions has made a deal with Spain’s International Film Group to distribute their movies beginning in September.

First up will be the first North American release of Hot Rats, a highly acclaimed offbeat feature with an all-star Europorn cast. The movie won five Ninfa awards at the 2003 International Erotic Film Festival in Barcelona, as well as prizes at festivals in Brussels, Mexico and Poland.

The deal will bring to North American consumers work by Spanish porn producers that has not been heretofore available.

Dan Quinn, Smash Productions owner, told AVN.com, “We’re very excited about distributing IFG. It’s a very artsy product. Hot Rats received the highest rating [five As] from AVN [June 2004]. I think it’s some of the top stuff in this industry. With two a month, it’s going to be a busy schedule for us.”

Josie Snyder, CEO of IFG North America, said the agreement with Smash is for two titles a month, one high-end feature and one gonzo, 24 titles in all.

The first gonzo release will be Serial Fucker. The second feature to be released in Gothix. Coming up is a movie called Darx that Snyder says compares favorably to Hot Rats.

Toxic, IFG’s latest big-budget production, will get its U. S. release in January and will be featured at the 2005 AVN Adult Entertainment Expo, along with its stars, Nacho Vidal, Celia Blanco and Katsumi.

Snyder also brokers, through Angel Pictures, IFG’s broadcast, VOD, hotel and Internet rights. She told AVN.com that IFG’s previous distribution agreement with another American company, under which no movies were ever released, “has been anulled.”

IFG, headquartered in Barcelona, is one of Europe’s largest adult distributors, going into 20 countries, with exclusive agreements with several major American manufacturers.

They began producing their own movies ten years ago and now have a catalog of 100 titles. They also own a cable channel in Spain that broadcasts live sex shows from 1:30 to 6:30 a.m.
