Sex Tourism, Consent Get Academic Spotlight in 'The Conversation'

LOS ANGELES—The AVN Adult Entertainment Expo in Las Vegas became the centerpiece for a recent academic analysis in The Conversation, which published an op-ed focused on sexualized leisure and tourism authored by a team of researchers.

The piece, titled “What happens in Vegas … why consent matters in ‘Sin City’ and other sex tourism cities,” was written by Paul J. Maginn, an associate professor of Urban/Regional Planning at the University of Western Australia; Aleta Baldwin, assistant professor of Kinesiology, Health and Nutrition at The University of Texas at San Antonio; Barbara Brents, a professor of Sociology at University of Nevada, Las Vegas; and Crystal A. Jackson, an assistant professor of Sociology at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
