Sasha Grey Interviewed on G4TV

LOS ANGELES - AVN Female Performer of the Year Sasha Grey was recently interviewed by G4TV's "Attack of the Show" on the topic of porn stars crossing over into mainstream entertainment.

Grey recently became the go-to source on the subject after landing the lead role in Oscar-winning director Steven Soderbergh's indie feature The Girlfriend Experience. Grey told G4TV that she disagrees with the notion that recent Hollywood movies such as Kevin Smith's Zack and Miri Make a Porno indicate that porn has become acceptable in mainstream American culture.

"I don't think we'll ever get over the fact that porn can try to cross-breed with mainstream," Grey said. "It's a taboo subject, and it's an easy way to sell with controversy, and I think that's why [porn] will continue to be taboo. It's like the elephant in the room...everyone watches it, but no one wants to talk about it."

Grey emphasized that she got into the adult industry because she enjoys the work, adding that actors who view porn as a springboard to mainstream Hollywood are in for a rude awakening.

"Once you're in adult, it doesn't matter if you've done softcore or hardcore; people are going to brand you as that," she said.
