Rod Jackson Produces Video on Race-Based Pay Discrepancies

LOS ANGELES—Adult performer Rod Jackson recently released a video about race-based pay discrepancies in adult, recruiting as featured spokespeople fellow performers Julia Ann, Cherie DeVille, Evelin Stone, Abigail Mac, Siri and Dante Colle, along with Playboy executive Holly Ruprecht, director Jacky St. James, and cam stars No Face Girl and No Face Guy.

In the video, each individual asks adult industry members to end pay discrepancies based on race.

“We ask that companies stop knowingly contributing to this immoral practice,” Julia Ann says in the video.

Likewise, Abigail Mac says, “I refuse to work with anyone who charges a special rate to work with people with a different skin color and any agents, producers or directors that accept this.”

The video is pinned on Jackson’s Twitter page here and is also available on YouTube here.

“It’s a good start to get the conversation going in helping stop this practice and end racism in the industry,” Jackson said.

For their part, the majority of adult talent agencies last month jointly released a pledge stating among other avowals that they had "agreed to implement a united policy regarding Talent Rate disparity associated with any Talent receiving a higher or lower rate of pay, due to the color of a person's skin, race, ethnicity, religion or creed."

When Jackson reached out to friends and colleagues a few weeks ago to be a part of the video, nearly all agreed, he said, and he's been encouraged by the support he's seen for the effort since.

“I’ve received a lot of support and it keeps growing, so I hope we can bring about a change,” Jackson said. “We can only create change if we have these conversations and these conversations will open the door to fix other issues.”
