Red Light District and Platinum X will be expanding their fundraiser for RLD employee Christina Rodriguez this Friday at Forbidden City in Hollywood, adding sponsors, a silent auction and appearances by several adult stars, as well as extending the hours of the event.
Rodriguez, who has worked with a variety of companies in the adult industry for the last fifteen years, is currently battling stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. The companies have planned the fundraiser to raise money in assisting the mother of two in her quest to return to full health. Larry Schwarz, director of public relations at RLD, told AVN.com that the event is shaping up to be a big one.
Initially sponsored by Red Light District and Platinum X, and facilitated by Debbie Schwarz, manager-reviewer of promotions at RLD, the companies have now been joined by Absolutenightlife.com and Opium Hollywood, on behalf of the night’s venue, Forbidden City. The party, which was originally scheduled to end around 10 p.m., will now go through the night until 2 a.m., and music will be provided by Hollywood DJ, David Rockwell.
Larry Schwarz told AVN.com that Seth Marsh will provide sports memorabilia for a silent auction, and promoter Johnny Barroco will have a gift certificate for plastic surgery/breast enhancement available for contributions as well.
In addition, Schwarz said that LA Direct Models owner Derek Hay will be bringing several adult starlets to the event. They will make themselves available for photographs and autographs for donations. Confirmed starlets include Tory Lane, Jezebelle Bond, Emilianna, Denice K, Rachell Ann, and Leola Jossi.
Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for RLD Distribution, Ralph Ceglia, announced that in addition to all the ways that the company is providing Rodriguez with financial support, “ten percent of all DVD sales for the next two weeks will be donated to Christina.”
David Joseph, Red Light District/Platinum X owner, has already pledged that he will personally take care of seeing that Rodriguez and her two children are able to fly home to Mexico in August, so Rodriguez can be with her family. Joseph said that he also will re-hire Rodriguez when she returns.
“The response from all of our company employees, management, and now from the adult industry, has been overwhelming,” Debbie Schwarz told AVN.com. “We urge everyone to attend this special event, to support this cause and socialize.”
The event will start at 8 p.m. and attendees will get free admission up until 10 p.m. ($20 after that), which will take place on the club’s Vine St. patio. Organizers will be taking donations for Rodriguez at the event.
Schwarz said that that those planning on attending are urged to RSVP with her at either 818.886.6821, ext. 108 or by e-mail, at [email protected].
Forbidden City is located at 1718 Vine Street (the corner of Hollywood and Vine) in Hollywood.
