LOS ANGELES—Award-winning director Will Ryder announced principal photography has wrapped on Love Emergency, his latest feature for Adam & Eve.
The medical comedy stars a cast of 24—including funnyman Tommy Pistol and blond superstar Riley Steele—and was shot over five days in various Los Angeles locations, including an emergency room of a former hospital.
“This is the big one,” Ryder said. “We wanted to create an engaging story with a fantastic ensemble cast that we peppered with big-time veterans like Brad Armstrong and some of the cutest new starlets.”
In Love Emergency, Pistol plays an unemployed panhandling college drop-out named Vinny living in his mom and stepdad's basement who is forced to apply for a janitor position at the local hospital. But when his idiot friend hacks the computer, he mistakenly gets hired as an emergency room trauma surgeon.
“This is the funniest script I've ever read. It's a fantastic story,” Pistol said following the cat table read. “I’m so happy I get to play this role.”
Pistol last teamed with Ryder in the award-winning musical parody of the Jersey Boys. Check out a funny musical clip here.
“You never really know if what you are writing is funny or not,” Ryder said. “The mind is a brutal thing as you begin to wonder when you are sitting alone in your office for weeks upon weeks if what you are creating actually works. You think it does but then the mind begins to play tricks on you and pretty soon you are mush.”
Luckily for Ryder, the first table read of Love Emergency was drowned out with boisterous laughter from the cast.
“They could barely get through it,” said co-producer Scott David.
“That was the best indication that we were onto something great but actually being on set and seeing this huge hilarious project come together was the proof,” Ryder said.
Joining Riley Steele and Tommy Pistol are Kenzie Reeves, Nia Nacci, Liv Wild, Savannah Sixx, Sarah Vandella, Misty Stone, Astrid Starr, Sunny Lane, Edyn Blair, Rachael Cavalli, Lucky Starr, Bambi Doll, Brad Armstrong, Jake Adams, Chad White, Brad Newman, Brad Sterling, Jack Vegas, James Bartholet, Frank Bukkwyd, Ryan Mclane, Rusty Nails and Deanzy as the paramedic.
Love Emergency will now undergo a two-month editing process, but those who can’t wait to see more of Adam & Eve and Will Ryder’s recent work, The Cursed XXX was among the most heavily nominated movies at the 2019 award shows and is up for more awards at the upcoming XRCO Awards Show.
