“The city that works” became a porn party gone wild when a trio of porn stars took Chicago by storm with a non-stop series of personal appearances, parties and more parties. AVN publisher Tim Connelly, joined by JM Productions exclusive and AVN Female Performer of the Year Ashley Blue, Vivid Girl Tawny Roberts and Wicked Girl Kaylani Lei spent a whirlwind 24 hours taking on media, sporting events and a party bus from Elvis Limos that kept the high energy feeling going from one event and the next.
Ironically, this Independence Day weekend, two of the top radio stations who were originally eager to have the performers on the air, joined by Connelly to give away a trip to the 2005 AVN Awards bowed out due to fear of repercussions from the FCC, with shock jock Mancow’s staff worrying that with his broadcast license up for renewal, it could hurt his already questionable chances to continue to be heard on the air.
Actually, it proved one of the best party weekends of the year, and promoter Brad Altman of Crobar pulled out all the stops for this weekend, making Thursday night a non-stop party when the stars went from one bar to another to build the excitement for Friday night’s celebration at Crobar.
Friday afternoon, the Porn in the USA crowd were hosted at a rooftop skybox atop a gorgeous brownstone across the right field line from Wrigley Field to watch the Chicago Cubs trounce the Chicago White Sox with a 6-2 Cubs slugfest in an Inter-League game that highlights the friendly rivalry between the American League White Sox and the National League Cubs.
Chicago Bulls legend, Norm Van Lear joined the rooftop party to watch the Cubs turn the tables on the dominant, and first place, White Sox as Blue, Lei and Roberts garnered more attention than Sammy Sosa as they cheered wearing Cubs hats and shirts. Cameras swooped in on the girls who made sure to take some Polaroid moments with the fans in between Brats and Beers.
The party bus swept in as the Cubs closed out the ninth inning, dropping the girls at the Virgin Mega-Store. They inked copies of their latest movies, the 2004 AVN Awards and signed autographs for the fans before taking disco naps before the evening’s festivities at Crobar.
Seka, AVN Hall of Famer and recent honoree by the Fans of X-Rated Entertainment (F.O.X.E.) joined the party bus on the way to Crobar. Local girls shimmied on the stripper poles on the party bus as Seka signed autographs and met the new stars. Packed to the rafters, Crobar enjoyed an unprecedented turnout turning away more than 500 people while Blue, Lei and Roberts danced and tossed out AVN and Crobar t-shirts, plenty DVDs to the eager fans. Seka joined the girls on stage, whirling on the strip poles in an AVN t-shirt, as the crowd pressed so close to the stages, as bouncers formed a circle to keep the fans back.
At the end of the evening, a drawing was held to pick a winner for a trip to the AVN Awards and the happy winner exclaimed it was his dream to get out of town in the middle of winter. “I went to heaven tonight meeting these girls and the legendary Seka,” offered John Pringle, the winner, adding, “I can’t wait to do it up right for an entire week in Las Vegas next January. AVN, these girls and Crobar made a wet dream cum true for this guy!”
Promoter Brad Altman, host of the event, was hoarse from cheering the Cubs, going strong for four days straight and braving the three time rain delayed game today where the Cubs beat the Sox, 4-2, while the rest of the crew headed home or prepared for more revelry at the “Red, White and Blue” party at Transit this evening. “The combination of AVN, Wicked, Vivid, JM Productions, Virgin Mega-Store, Seka and all the wonderful people from Tommy Boy and Elvis, who supplied the party buses, Dave who offered up his rooftop skybox to us, and all the clubs, bars and restaurants along the way made this a weekend to remember.
