CHILE—A few movies are in the works that will tell the story of the rescue of 33 Chilean miners who were stuck for more than two months in a mine in Copiapó. One of them will be far more explicit than the others, sexually speaking.
Chilean director Leonardo Barrera has announced plans to shoot a porn film on the rescue, appropriately titled La Mina Se Comio los 33 (The Mine that Ate the 33). Appropriate because, according to Hispanically Speaking News, “It is not uncommon in the southern most tip of South America, to hear men use the word ‘mina’ (mine) to refer colloquially to young girls. So it comes as no surprise that in celebration of the ten years of the most lucrative industry in the world reaching Chile, director Leonardo Barrera plans to produce a film titled, La Mina Swallowed the 33.”
Barrera recently told Chile’s Radio Cooperativa that he does not plan to “show a tremendous orgy on the screen,” but want to “do something comical,” while also making sure to play up some of the political aspects of the incident.
“[Barrera] viewed the miners ‘not as heroes but as victims of a broken system’ that ‘provoked’ the mine accident that left them trapped underground for approximately 69 days,” reported The Latin Americanist blog, which added, “Barrera’s ‘vision’ may include ‘anecdotes’ on the 24-hour rescue mission and the tale of philandering worker Yoanni Barrios.”
The film will also feature the porn debut of 20-year-old former Chilean model Ana Karanina, who has been quoted as saying that she has wanted to do pornography since the age of 13.
