Playboy Offers iPhone Content

LOS ANGELES - Playboy has launched a special offer for users of Apple's iPhone, due to hit the market on Friday.

The pioneering men's magazine is offering 12 free wallpaper images of scantily-clad Playmates and a separate gallery featuring another dozen Playmate photos with every purchase of the new device.

In addition to the glamorous still images, the multimedia 'iPlayboy' package includes a Playboy.com Cyber Girl video and one episode of its radio show 'The Playmate Hour' with hosts Miriam Gonzalez (Miss March '01) and Pilar Lastra (Miss August '04).

"We have always tried to stay ahead of the curve by delivering the fun, sophistication and sexiness of Playboy to our fans on the newest and hottest media platforms," said John D. Thomas, editor of Playboy.com. "And with so much buzz surrounding the all-in-one Apple iPhone, we knew we had to develop something specifically designed just for this device."

Playboy spokesman Matt Kalinowski told Reuters that although the company did not work with Apple on the promotion, the images are specially sized for the iPhone.

Instructions for downloading and installing "iPlayboy" are available at playboy.com.

Playboy is the third adult entertainment company to tout its iPhone-friendly content in advance of the product's release this week. Digital Playground is offering free trailers and specially-priced per-scene downloads for the device, while Pulse Distribution is selling PodDisc comps of hardcore content aimed at iPhone consumers.
