PinkLabel.TV to Stream Classic 'Kamikaze Hearts' on March 12

SAN FRANCISCOPink and White Productions has announced that it will be webcasting a special presentation of the 1986 queer docudrama Kamikaze Hearts to a global audience on its streaming platform PinkLabel.TV on Friday, March 12, at 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET. The show will include a talk with director Juliet Bashore.

Newly restored from its original negative, Bashore’s quasi-documentary plunge into the 1980s porn industry takes a look at issues such as misogyny, drug abuse and exploitation via the story of two women—the naive Tigr and top '80s-'90s actress Sharon Mitchell—caught in an ill-fated romance. By turns mesmerizing and unsettling, Kamikaze Hearts is both a record of pre-gentrification San Francisco’s X-rated underground and an intense love story.

The San Francisco Chronicle described Kamikaze Hearts as "Vibrant… Gritty… Enthralling," while The Village Voice dubbed it, “A startling potent and continuously riveting film with no taboos left to break.”

Kamikaze Hearts depicts the personal lives of Sharon Mitchell, described as a queen of her day in the adult business, and her then-girlfriend Tigr, as they negotiate the ups and downs of life and relationships in the business. Or does it? Originally titled Fact or Fiction, the movie's realism kept audiences guessing.

After its original theatrical release, Kamikaze Hearts more or less disappeared from the canon of adult-related fare, but acquired a cult status in the decades that followed.

Audiences will have a safe and accessible front-row seat for this beautifully restored classic, and will also be privy to an exclusive talk with director Bashore, led by Pink and White Productions director Shine Louise Houston. The moderated chat on PinkLabel.tv's feed will welcome questions from a live, international audience. This unique event is a real treat for adult film enthusiasts, porn history buffs, and cinephiles with a taste for cross-genre storytelling.

The virtual event will be free to members of PinkLabel+ or may be seen with an event pass purchased through ticketing partner BoldTypeTickets. For more information, visit PinkLabel.TV.
