Pink Visual to Hold ‘Content Protection Retreat’ in October

TUCSON, AZ—Pink Visual will host an adult industry-focused “Content Protection Retreat” (CPR) in October, at which a limited number of content owners, who must qualify to attend, will learn about effective means of combating content piracy and protecting their intellectual property.

“For too long, the industry has been in agreement that content piracy is a major problem, without taking collective steps to craft a solution,” said Pink Visual President Allison Vivas. “Our aim at this event is to translate our attendees’ expressed desire to protect their content into constructive action that actually furthers that goal.”

Scheduled for October 17-19 in Tucson, Arizona, the retreat will offer attendees consultation with attorneys and developers who are experts in intellectual property law and software-based solutions for protecting digital content, respectively.

Attorney Gill Sperlein, the general counsel to Titan Media, who has initiated several successful copyright cases on behalf of Titan, will be presenting information at the CPR, along with several other leading intellectual property attorneys.

Also participating will be Diane Duke, Executive Director of the Free Speech Coalition, and representatives of the software company that serves as the exclusive technology provider for FSC’s Anti-Piracy Action Program (APAP).

“The Content Protection Retreat represents the best opportunity to-date for major adult entertainment companies to come together as one and unite behind a strategic approach to combating content piracy,” Duke said. “FSC has worked hard to engage our membership in the anti-piracy fight, and the retreat is an opportunity to enlist more people in this important battle.”

The event will be limited to 30 companies, and each company represented must own the rights to at least 2000 adult videos (which can be episodes or scenes, not necessarily DVDs) in order to be eligible to attend.

Two major studios, Hustler and Gamma Entertainment, have already signed on as attendees of the CPR, and will relate their first-hand experience with the APAP program, Vivas said.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to have Hustler and Gamma on board for the CPR,” Vivas said. “Hustler and Larry Flynt are renowned as fighters for the common good of the adult entertainment industry, and they are a perfect example of what we’re looking for in collaborators in this important effort. Gamma brings a valuable perspective as well, representing several production companies and major porn star labels, with a combined total of over 8,000 titles.”
