Paradise Visuals is recalling its release of the classic 1987 title, The Devil in Mr. Holmes, distributed by Paladin Video.
The company said Tuesday that the title, which was released in September, does not contain the last 10 minutes of an interview by industry veteran Bill Margold of Laurie Holmes, the late actor’s widow. It also includes a 30-minute segment where Holmes meets Ginger Lynn.
As soon as we saw the interview was defective we had to pull it,” said Jason Green, company co-owner.
“The movie’s also well known because he did it while he knew he was HIV positive so at the time it was a pretty controversial.”
Holmes eventually died of AIDS in 1989.
The feature, shot in Europe and is Holmes’ last performance, tells the story of a man who encounters the devil who in turn gives him extraordinary powers to conquer women.
The title features Tracey Adams, Ginger Lynn, Amber Lynn, Illona Staller who is better known as Ciccolina, Karin Schubert and Tamara Longley.
Meanwhile, The Devil in Mr. Holmes is scheduled to be re-released the second week of December.
