MIAMI—As a tabloid newspaper (and a Murdoch tabloid at that), at least one of The New York Post's reporters was bound to cover the "intersection" between the recent coronavirus outbreak and the adult industry—and sure enough, writer Sara Dorn managed to speak with two performers, Los Angeles-based adult star and professional porn pundit Kate Kennedy, Miami-based indie content creator/cam performer and professional porn pundit; Joslyn Jane, and stripper Tyler Faith. The article's topic? The "silver lining" some sex workers have found as people seek to escape the new reality of the coronavirus.
Dorn noted that “coronavirus isn’t the only thing causing temperatures to rise across the globe.” At a time when public events are being canceled, and governments are urging against physical contact, “business is booming for sexy solo performers as millions of holed-up horndogs look to relieve their outbreak anxiety.”
“Many are feverish with anticipation,” Dorn deadpanned.
Kennedy told Dorn that, like many others in the adult business currently, she's seen a significant revenue increase while engaged in her comforting endeavors during the pandemic.
“If you’re trying to sell porn, having the entire country cooped up at home with nothing to do is kind of a dream scenario,” Kennedy said.
Kennedy, who only opened her OnlyFans account a week ago, is already up to 100 subscribers, and according to Dorn "has made four figures in tips and fees—about what she typically made in a month."
“Cam girls and content creators are doing business like crazy,” Kennedy assured.
Joslyn Jane is another one of the breakout stars of the outbreak, saying that during this time of fear, uncertainty and isolation, “There is a lot going on. ... And we are definitely taking fans’ minds off this.
So much so, in fact, that Jane reports a 62 percent weekly increase in tips and sales on her OnlyFans account and ManyVids store.
“I’m always very open to talk to the press about issues that affect sex workers’ lives and livelihoods, and to have the opportunity to present us as the entrepreneurs and small business owners that we are,” said Jane. “I’m grateful to the New York Post for taking the time to depict the coronavirus situation through a less pessimistic prism than a lot of the media coverage.”
Joslyn keeps her ManyVids store up-to-date and is a top-ranked MV Girl on the platform, thanks in large part to her "Officer Jane" character.
Sadly, feature dancers like Tyler Faith aren't faring nearly as well as their online counterparts, mostly due to the fact that nightclubs are crowded, and dancers are in close contact with dozens if not hundreds of men, any of whom could be a virus carrier.
“I have decided to stay as far away from all clubs,” said Faith. “I have canceled quite a few appearances. Have to be safe in these times.”
