Nieratko Docu Series 'Skinema' Debuts Fri. on Vice.com

LOS ANGELES—Skinema, a new web series from Vice and BurningAngel contributor Chris Nieratko exploring the behind-the-scenes lives of porn stars, premieres tomorrow on Vice.com with the first of a four-part feature on adult performer/director/photographer Kimberly Kane.

A project that began over three years ago, the Kane portrait traces her career from her entrance into the industry through the Winter Wonderland benefit party she organized with Belladonna at the end of 2009 to aid the struggling AIM Healthcare clinic.

"It's really fun, it's hip, it's sexy," Nieratko told AVN. "It's really trying to show this progressive light on porn of girls taking the helm and owning their own companies and directing ... just a smarter side of porn than maybe Rick Santorum wants you to believe exists."

The subjects Nieratko's chosen for the series thus far certainly epitomize that side of porn; following Kane, the next two multi-installment pieces will showcase BurningAngel founder Joanna Angel and the aforementioned Belladonna.

Nieratko is no outsider to the porn world—before penning music reviews for BurningAngel and adult movie reviews for Vice, he spent several years in the employ of one Larry Flynt.

"Back around 2000, he had Big Brother skateboarding magazine that spawned Jackass," Nieratko said. "So I was a part of the class that took over after the Jackass class, and did four years with Flynt. I made friends with the casting directors upstairs and got to eat my roast beef sandwiches while girls bent over naked to get their Polaroids on the ninth floor. Good memories."

With Skinema, he hopes to share the positive glimpse into porn he's been afforded over the years. For more information and to see the trailer, click here.
