NEW YORK CITY—It's not something anyone wants to think about, much less talk about, but there are A LOT of people out there who have pretty extensive collections of adult material—DVDs, magazines, toys, maybe fetish gear—and as they get older, maybe there will be a time to consider what will happen to all that stuff when they die? After all, those who live alone will almost certainly have their effects sorted through by relatives or friends, and even those in a relationship may have kept the material hidden from their spouses/partners, who might find the revelation something of a shock.
But that concept is more peripheral than central in a new play that's about to debut at New York's Hudson Guild Theatre, titled Our Dead Friend's Porn. According to a press description, the play is about "the awkwardness and old bruises of a friendship hurtling towards adulthood."
"In the cornfields of suburban Pennsylvania, a once inseparable trio breaks into the childhood bedroom of their dead friend to dispose of the massive porn collection he left behind," the release continues. "When they make a discovery among the magazines and DVDs, each member of the gang is forced to relive their intimate moments with their friend to piece together the mysteries of his death, and whether or not they caused it."
Sounds a bit mysterious, eh? Well, those who want to find out just what those "intimate moments with their friend" are can find out at the Hudson Guild Theatre, located at 441 W. 26th St., in Manhattan, when Our Dead Friend's Porn opens January 2, running through January 9.
