New Direction: Interview With Ivy Jones

Ivy Jones loves the process of content creation so much she already is learning to direct.

“I do still perform girl/girl from time to time and would like to get into that a little bit more, but more so I’m focused on directing and photography and honing my skills as a shooter,” says Jones, the just-turned-24-year-old native of Southern Oregon who debuted in October 2016.

Ambitious and enterprising, Jones embarked on her directing journey last summer as an unpaid production assistant for veteran producer/performer Jay Rock. She has also worked as a PA for Just Dave, but has since begun to expand her role with Jay Rock, collaborating with him on numerous scenes. Jones now co-directs some of the scenes, making her one of the youngest up-and-coming shot-callers in adult.

“I love the challenge of learning how to do different things on set,” Jones says. “I’m a creative individual. I enjoy the responsibility and being part of a team. I enjoy creating a product—something I can be proud of.”

Jones became adept at editing her own photos and videos while she was going to college full time, studying archaeology. While still a student, she worked part-time jobs at a plant nursery and apiary, and also moonlighted as a stripper.

“I brought a few skills into the industry when I first joined and I saw how many performers were really taking their content into their own hands and capitalizing. I found that inspiring. I wanted to learn from other producers and eventually shoot other people instead of just myself,” says Jones, who also spent time as a cam girl on Streamate pre-porn.

She says teaming with Jay Rock has helped her navigate the logistics of a shoot.

“I’ve learned everything from different camera equipment to how to light—different styles of lighting—how to direct other people, how to become a leader. I’ve learned the ebbs and flows of shooting porn and how to predict positions. It takes a long time for an individual to become good at that,” Jones adds.

Jones’s increasing list of credits includes producing scenes for sites such as BangBros, Team Skeet, Nubiles, DDFNetwork and BlackPayback. She’s especially good at managing the shot list and script supervision.

“I hope to further hone my skills as a director, photographer and shooter, do more producing and own my own content,” says Jones, who at press time planned to launch her premium Snapchat with FanCentro and also perform in new girl/girl scenes.
