Groups of girls and guys begin to hustle into Gilley's as the 9 o'clock hour approaches at the Frontier Casino. The rodeo is about to start and there are adult stars, strippers and Penthouse Pets sashaying through the crowd in black booty shorts and mini-skirts trying to reach the stage. Senior nightlife photographer Hew Burney is on his way to snap the group picture before the girls hand out X-rated gift bags worth over 100 bucks.
The blonde in the red dress and black boots is Gina Lynn, our host for the night who will be the first to ride the mechanical bull. Lynn stars in Top Notch Bitches, Double-Ds and Derriere's and Tear Jerkers for her East Coast-based production company in between feature dancing and turns as a Bada Bing Girl on "The Sopranos." Tonight she will join Gilley's own master of ceremonies, Kaz, to call the mud wrestling and bull-riding competition.
"If her butt was a Chinese restaurant, I'd order the Pu-Pu Platter," Kaz would say later.
Racket Magazine is throwing the event, with assists from AVN, Penthouse Video, Minxx Gentlemen's Club, The Men's Club, Area 108 FM, SpyOnVegas.com and Crown Royal, which fueled the three-hour Open Bar. Free porn from American Hardcore, Doghouse Digital, Premium and Jules Jordan Video has the crowd in a rowdy mood, not to mention the presence of Penthouse Pets Renee Diaz, Andie Valentino, Ashley Roberts and Holly Morgan. Penthouse Video has flown in director Kelly Holland and an eight-person production crew to shoot the rodeo for a future pay-per-view show. It's not just another Wednesday night at the Frontier and "This Ain't Our First Rodeo," Kaz shouts.
Meanwhile, people have begun staring at Penny Flame, the star of Blazed and Confused among over 150 other adult movies, as she gyrates to the rock music blaring at the gritty venue, which has sawdust on the floor and a disco ball hanging from the ceiling. Still amped from her half-naked photo shoot in front of the Frontier Hotel marquee, Flame is in a naughty frame of mind. So is the cover girl of Crank Shaft, Haley Paige, who will be in the second-to-last mud wrestling match after agreeing to face Richelle Ryan, the star of Make Me Creamy 3 and Oops I Swallowed.
The main event will pit Penthouse's Diaz, the October 2005 Pet who says she'll try anything twice and whose turn-ons include "green eyes and cooking skills," against French porn star Angelique Morgan.
Penthouse's Holland remarked to me that Diaz "has a lot of heart" after watching her and the other Pets try jiu-jitsu moves on each other during their morning photo shoot with photographer Lisa Boyle. But Diaz may have her hands full with the busty blonde, Morgan, who starred in Limo Bimbos 4 and dances regularly at the local Spearmint Rhino.
Adult performer and Las Vegas resident, Anna Belle, says she wants to ride the bull, but the Cum Drippers star has to bow out for another club engagement before it's her turn. Lynn hops into the saddle first, and a dozen rides later, Flame climbs on again after asking me to get the manager Larry to buck her off. Larry cranks up the speed, but Penny hangs on and the star of Sport Fucking and Sperm Swappers 2 wins the bull-riding competition going away.
As the party moves to the mud pit, the girls dart into the dressing room to disrobe. They will wrap themselves in white towels during their two-minute ring walk and Larry will crank up the music as they come out. Backstage some of the girls have begun to choreograph wrestling holds, hair pulling and ass spanking. As Ashley Roberts and Holly Morgan wait on deck for the fourth bout, Roberts says to me seriously, "are we allowed to kiss?"
"Yes," I reply, "absolutely."
Their match turns into one of the highlights of the card as they frolic in the soupy white ring, which Larry tells me is "spa mud flown in from Hollywood" and poured over four soft mattresses.
The next encounter is Paige vs. Ryan, a veteran against a newcomer. As Paige goes to her corner she has to be wondering why her moral support, Chico Wang, is not seated ringside. After driving with her to Vegas, the seasoned porn director was last heard from trying to buy tomahawks on the Strip. "I don't know what my obsession is with tomahawks," he admits. "I need a hobby."
Paige wins that showdown, and finally Diaz meets Morgan and puts her on her back in under three minutes, claiming the unofficial Racket title belt. There was no word about when her first title defense would be as the girls got ready for the after-party at Minxx.
