LOS ANGELES—Motley Models owner Dave Rock makes it his business to discover new models and then help them navigate through a career in adult entertainment. Because of his unique position, he is often the first person an aspiring performer will meet in the industry.
Inspired to give fans a window into these girls’ lives, Rock has launched a platform for performers to tell their stories on the “Backstage Pass With Dave Rock” podcast—available now on his new YouTube channel.
Rock has unveiled the project with 18 episodes—each featuring signed performers from Motley, the talent agency he founded on a whim in 2010.
“I’m excited to give a unique perspective on the amazing girls that come into this business, ultimately becoming the ‘fantasy girls’ of millions,” Rock says. “I’m looking forward to giving studios and fans an inside look into their personalities, backgrounds, special talents and finally, what circumstances led them to the business.
“While the girls share interesting life experiences, I strongly feel they should also be recognized for how successfully they are building their business and brand.”
Rock points to notorious mainstream personalities such as Joe Rogan and Howard Stern as inspirations for his podcasting style.
“I’m a big fan of both,” he says.
Among the podcasts already live on YouTube are interviews with Emily Willis, Naomi Swann, Scarlett Sage and newly minted Penthouse Pet, Savannah Sixx.
In addition, Rock has fresh podcasts with Kiara Cole, Honey Blossom, Ashley Lane, Natalie Knight, Allie Nicole, Gianna Gem, Scarlit Scandal, Jewelz Blue, Winter Jade and Aliya Brynn all available to view.
Shot with two cameras on a cozy set that was custom built for “Backstage Pass,” the podcast incorporates production values such as multiple camera angles, sound design and editing.
“There are so many blogs and sites out there but the girls have been super excited and supportive,” Rock says, adding that he has learned even more about some of the models he manages from doing “Backstage Pass.”
“Sometimes the questions you ask them are not as many as I’m asking on this podcast. I’m learning more about these girls and what makes them tick and what drives them to be in this business.”
He plans to post up to three new podcasts a week on the channel and will not be limiting the interviews to only Motley Models performers; for instance, next week he’ll be talking to Spiegler Girl Kendra Spade.
A native of Westlake Village, Calif., Rock grew up Mormon, played sports and was an Eagle Scout in his teenage years. He excelled as a high school pitcher and went on to play baseball at Moorpark College before sustaining a shoulder injury that prevented him from going further in the sport.
Rock became successful in the corporate world before making the move to adult—his last mainstream job was as an advertising executive for Realtor.com. He recalls being on a date with an adult performer who was complaining about her agent, prompting him to begin researching what it would take for him to become an agent himself. Thanks to his own resourcefulness and some timely help from a webmaster who shared his spreadsheet of industry contacts, Rock started building Motley from the ground up.
“I used to be the guy booking the girls and driving them to shoots and now 10 years later we have one of the best agencies in the business,” Rock says. “We represent 35 to 40 models at any given time and usually about 25 are super active.
“I have three booking agents now, so I don’t answer a booking call on my phone. I just focus on building the Motley brand now and hiring the right talent to represent. This podcast was kind of a natural evolution to give people insight into the amazing girls that I meet.”
