VAN NUYS, Calif.—The small time male performer alleged to have murdered a co-worker and injured two others in the office of Ultima DVD last night, has been described to AVN by numerous industry professionals as an unassuming type.
Thirty-year-old Stephen Hill, aka Steve Driver, is said to have murdered his friend, coworker and fellow performer, Herbert Wong, aka Tom Dong, with a machete that was said to be used as a movie prop. Driver’s MySpace page features numerous photos of him posing with machetes and swords.
The Los Angeles Police Department said that both men were living at the Ultima DVD offices on Hayvenhurst Avenue and Saticoy Street.
Police haven’t released Wong’s name to the public pending notification of his family, but numerous industry sources confirmed to AVN that he was the victim of Hill’s machete attack.
Police allege that Hill was facing eviction from the facility and “just snapped.”
Director Mike Ramone told AVN that he shot Hill in two movies for Robert Hill Releasing. In a strange twist of fate, it was Wong that brought along Hill to Ramone’s shoot after answering an ad on Craigslist looking for male talent.
In fact, Hill performed in a scene with Ramone and Charley Chase for a movie titled Tea Bagging Party while wearing Ronald Reagan masks, a take-off on the Tea Party movement. Driver also appeared in Cum Fart Tsunami 2 for Robert Hill.
“The guy seemed mellow and laid back,” Ramone said. “He was a reliable performer when he worked for me and he performed well. It’s pretty shocking. I guess you never truly know people.”
Ultima DVD was a small, fetish-focused adult producer that sold scenes to companies including Notorious XXX, Tru Filth and Gentlemen’s Video.
Immoral Productions head “Porno” Dan Leal also knew the alleged murderer and victim.
“Tom Dong performed in our series Fuck A Fan,” Leal told AVN. “He was a bukkake boy type. Kind of low-level male talent and one of the few Asian performers in the business.
“Steve Driver came to all my parties and was always approaching girls. He wanted to do Fuck A Fan for us but never did.”
Raven, the production manager for Kick Ass Pictures, told AVN that he knew both parties. Kick Ass hired Dong regularly.
“Tom is our main footjob guy for Kick Ass Pictures’ FootFetishDaily.com and Footjob Fantasies,” Raven said. “Members actually emailed us requesting us to use him. We had him booked for a scene this Friday. We used Steve too in our 10 Man Cum Slam and Five Guy Cream Pie series. We knew they were friends because Steve would always give Tom a ride to set. I called them the Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker of porn.”
According to a source that visited the two other victims in the hospital, one of the victim’s hands was slashed so severely he is in danger of having it amputated. This source also said that Dong was stabbed three times in the back and didn’t die immediately.
The Ultima DVD office has been the site of industry violence before. UFC fighter turned porn performer War Machine was involved in an altercation involving numerous adult industry members late last year.
Driver was still at large at post time.
